Ghostly Helmet

Curious to know how to obtain the Ghostly Helm... I've been trying to watch vids that demo the whole quest but they are were made a few years ago. When I try to do what people do in the vids, nothing happens for me so I'm just assuming that the method has changed. In the vids, it's been showing to go up to the 2nd floor in a bigger room, walk behind a painting and throw an item into the soul sand and the wall will open up but first off, there isn't a painting anymore and it's not soul sand from what I can see, it's just a hopper now. Someone please help me with this :(

So when I look at the spoiler on how to get to the helmet, saying I need to find 3 ghosts and 2 of them are apparently on the 3rd floor, I can't even seem to find out how to get on the 3rd floor...

 

Well... just explore the mansion a bit more, that's one of the fun in that quest. :p

I've been exploring this mansion for the past 45 minutes and I'm not having fun doing so...

 

Alright so I've gotten the helm but when I get to the part of needing to put the Emeralds in the "eyes" of the wither carpet, my Emeralds won't go into the hopper of the left eye and only the right. Since it won't go in, I can't back into the secret room behind the fireplace and I can't drop the Emerald in the soul sand which in turn opens up the grave in the graveyard. Please help.
