Kazuki's POV
from back where damien turned his attention to the other corrupted

You tumble down the hill, rolling head over heels. You can hear Malhirrm screeching and hitting rocks below you.
You manage to get your hands under you and vault up to your feet.
Nearer to the coast Malhirrm is slowly getting up. You bring your hand to where you think your sword is, but it's not there.
Malhirrm scowls, and with (yet another) snarl launches itself at you, arms outstretched (it looks like he's [it?] trying to tackle you).
You step to the side, and the creature crashes on the ground near you.
Luckily, you spot your katana lying a few yards (or meters, whichever [it really doesn't matter]) away. You sprint away from the corrupted and reach for your sword, snatching it up before facing Malhirrm in an attack position.
Malhirrm is crouched on the ground, but suddenly he snaps his head up and you see a glint of metal in his hand. He charges, more balanced now (I guess Malhirrm is a he now... XD) towards you (ok so assume every action of his is accompanied by a growl or snarl... it's just easier that way..).
When he comes closer you can clearly see a dagger of a dark steel (you're not entirely sure) gripped tightly in his hand. He lunges at you, and you bat the dagger away, sliding your sword into his ribs. He leaps back and snarls (i think that one was necessary), clutching the wound.
Then, his blade starts.. growing.
It expands into a longsword, and Malhirrm grips it with both hands and gives it an experimental swing. He looks up at you and smirks.

fyi a longsword is about double the length of a katana.
do you want to have an action or should i just continue with these long monologues that i take too long to write?

As for the thing that I've totally ignored, I've decided to accept @Rawb's character Frederick Wahsinn and @ElectroMantis' character Thengel Thain (yeah I'm breaking my own rules, whatever).
Do you want your characters to meet? I can arrange that.
Also @sonickid3003 do you want Ronan to meet either characters?

"This is bad," I think. "Maybe if I can dodge his attack, but stay within range to block, I can counter and behead him..." I switch to a defensive stance and prepare to use that tactic.

(The standard block with a katana involves a slant that causes the incoming attack to slide off the sword. If the attacker doesn't know of it, it could catch him off guard, and his sword may end up at ground level, giving time for a counter, which is easy in the particular pose.)

Okay then... How do people hold those things? It can be hard to balance a bokken (wooden training katana) at times, and it's lighter than an actual one XD

hm maybe i got the measurements wrong

as far as i know both the katana and longsword are two-handed weapons
a longsword i think is about 48 inches although im not sure about a katana.. but i do believe that the katana is smaller

 

Longsword blades are normally 90-110 cm, Katanas are 60-73 cm... Wow they're long.

 

there's a reason why they're longswords, y'know.

Wait, did Kazuki even need to jump back? I mean, it's not like the effectiveness of the block varies depending on range...

 

I just measured my bokken and it was about 100 cm long (the "blade" was 73 cm).

Did you know that I am cursed?
Cursed to write the same damn paragraphs over and over and over.
The reason I've been gone for a month is:
1) Personal issues. Life is kinda "eh" right now, and I'd rather not talk about it here.
2) I... uh... killed my computer. Like.. I need to buy a new one, but I don't have the money. I figure if I'm lucky I might be able to get one at the end of June.

You walk along the high street, gazing upon the ancient stone buildings that make up the foundation of Ragni (The "main" street has mostly stone buildings, as well as a few surrounding streets [the rest are made up of wattle and daub]. The inner city [where the King is] is also made of stone).
As you're walking along, a scuffle spills out into the streets. You look, moderately interested. There are two men fighting. One has a boar's head emblazoned on his left breast. The other man is much younger, now that you look closer - barely more than 18, you reckon. You can make out the words.
"Wh- but t-that's treason!" the younger man stuttered.
"And is it treason for a man to believe what he wants?" the other man demanded. "You know it just as well as I do! That he's better than our King! You know he can hold off the corrupteds better!"
"By forcing people to enlist?!"
"It's a do-or-die situation right now - we need every person we can get!"
The younger man snorted.
"Did you not hear the rumors?" the man with the boar's head demanded again. "The wall- it was purified. Purified, I tell you! I was there! I saw it with my own eyes-"
He stopped mid-sentence. A soldier was standing behind him with a firm grip on the man with the boar's head's shoulder.
"Now," the soldier said. "I believe I head the word treason in that little conversation you were having over there."
"I- er, what?" the man exclaimed. "N-no.. I'm sure you.. you heard wrong. Heh. No treason. Not from me, no sir-"
The soldier grabbed the man's arm and twisted it behind his back. The man let go a yelp of pain.
"Now, I believe I will be taking you to the castle." The word dungeon hung unspoken in the air. "We can't have talk of treason, can we now? No," the soldier said, answering his own question, "we can't."
And with that, the soldier frog-marched the man with the boar's head up to the castle.
You frowned. You didn't know him. You shrug - it's not like anyone expects you to memorize every name and face.
You know what the argument was about. The king of Troms.
There had been lots of arguments lately.


Hopefully I can get @Rawb's starter piece done tomorrow as well as the continuation of @Florfy5's and @LoyalFlush's story up by tomorrow as well.

Nemract is so boring.
Ever since that battle, you've been hearing talk of the two heroes that saved the town. It's getting kind of old.
You start walking to the bank. The road is pretty crowded.
You bump into a young man. He has sandy brown hair and is wearing a linen shirt. He apologizes, then keeps walking.
Your belt feels lighter.
You touch your hand to your side, then realize with a start that your coin purse is gone.
You curse, then race after the young man.
He dodges around people, weaving in and out of crowds.
He bounds up a windowsill and atop a building, then jumps to the top of Nemract's bar. He stands there, grinning.
How do you chase him?
You can't parkour off of the buildings like he did.
I'm just saying.

 

Frederick curses the man, and tries to climb up the building, challenging the man to a duel.

 

You run to the side of the building, scrambling up windowsills and finally clambering up onto the roof. You stand up. The pickpocket smiles, and tosses your coin purse up in the air. He says nothing.

 

Frederick draws his sword and charges the man.

 

Well, good to have you back. Life can be a bit cruel at times. Not much can be done about it. At least you don't get trauma from spending more than 10 minutes with anyone you don't know well. Not EVERYTHING is horrible :3
