Hey! Its me again! Yeah that guy.
Anyway before anything else I am not always active everyday so if thats fine then continue.

This is a new roleplay (duh) but the genre is kinda equally magic and future. Any type of magic you can come with is fine and I encourage creativity but it cant require a major change in the lore of the world. Also the storyline is not definite but determined by the players reactions to situations I give you so that should be fun.
Oh yeah I don't have a map yet...but I will soon. Guess your character knows the destination or can ask for it.
Meh, Im still learning the way of the GM so bear with me.

Please be active at least most days. If something happens try to tell me and if your in a fight with another player or working with another player I may NPC your character until you get back.

Spoiler: Backstory of World

About 9000 years prior to the roleplay this was a world much like ours today, no magic and struggling with radicals but one day there appeared a different group of people in every major city wearing strange clothes and carrying weapons that looked like they were used in wars from hundreds of years ago. These people were dubbed the travelers as they brought strange tales of magic and horrifying beasts. These tales were backed up by the strange abilities the travelers had. Creating fire in their hands, summoning lightning at will, and many others. Soon the natural inhabitants of the world began to exhibit these abilities, albeit to a lesser extent. For a few hundred years there was peace across the world. Huge advances were made in a fields off technology and life expectancy reached to around 220 years at its peak. But then the monsters came. Lead into the world be a crazed and angry man who learned the secret to jumping between worlds, billions of monsters of all kind spilled into the world until no nation was left. However that man was so paranoid he wouldn't even teach a successor so when he finally died of old age. The monsters got pulled back to their own worlds without the influence of his magic. As the remnants of humanity began to rebuild their world they realized all magic had left them. About 20 years before the roleplay takes place both magic and monsters reentered the world but found that humanity had advanced its technology even farther than before and was able to fend them off. These defenders protect all cities allowing those with magical abilities to hone them for the fight against monsters. However no one knows who or what broke the barrier between realms again.

Spoiler: Cities

Now, this takes some explaining. there are three countries: Usheau, which focuses on agriculture and producing resources. Xasnia, which focuses on advancing technology. And Gleydan, which is a haven for those seeking to learn magic. There are four continents two shared by Usheau and Xasnia, one smaller than those two which is controlled by Gleyden. And the largest is ruled by monsters but contains some small cities which are little more than military outposts.
Ok cities.
Usheau:
Neclyae: Consists of mainly show and banking businesses. Also is an export hub for the farmers as it sits on the coast.
Shuyae: This is the capital of Usheau and contains the headquarters of its businesses and farming committees. It is not however a big export/import city as it is located in the center of the country but it does sit next to a large lake.
Cuthyae: This is the main port of the country as it is a near equal distant to the other countries and sits on the coast opposite Neclyea.

Xasnia
Reswaiton:The main port for the nation it sits on the coast facing the continent of Gleydan.
Kachiesau: This is a center of business in Xasnia and contains many of its biggest businesses and companies.
Atheau: This is the capital of Xasnia. A shining gem of a city Atheau is a headquarters of learning and government and is heavily protected by both technology and magic.
Thaedal:This city is infamous for its lawlessness and corruption. It has many levels cut off by roads.(So its like one build but you can walk out of every level onto a road.) The lower you go the more lawless and dangerous it becomes. This is the home of cyberpunks, hackers and criminals.

Gleydan is like the size of New Hampshire and is mostly one sprawling city full of knowledge and magical learning. This is the place where most of the old mages lived.

You'll be facing a lot of everything in this rp so everything is fair game.

Spoiler: Races

So like 83% of the non-monster population is human but other races like angels and such are coming back.
Humans: Can use most forms ofmagic and form spirit contracts but generally rely on technology.
Angels:Now these use divine magic which can heal as well as seal away monsters, however not all angels are good.
Demons: these use demonic magic and have a wide range of powers and also are not all bad.
Monsters: this is a loose term defining anything that wants to tear down civilization.
Dragon-Kin:Dragons, or as they will be classified here, dragon-kin are dragon like creatures that can have any number of magic powers and physical shapes, however they are quite rare.

Spoiler: Tech

So technology is really advanced in this world so I'm going to give you some general things to expect but I really want to see how you guys take this and use it.
Nuclear fusion reactors and batteries. batteries are handheld reactors.
Laser rifles: these are heat based weapons but effective at close range
Plasma rifles: these are generally one shot kill weapons but take forever to reload so usually used by snipers
Any technology we have today is assumed super advanced versions

Weapon(ranged): You can have four light weapons(pistol) or two medium(rifles) or one heavy(Gatling gun)
Weapon(melee): Two light or one other. Heavy has a slow debuff though.
Technological upgrades: like genetic engineering or cybernetics
Magic abilities: These have to be themed with your character and you can have up to four abilities. Now abilities doesn't mean spells but spell casting would be an ability.

Race: human
Appearance: 5 foot 10 inches, short light brown hair, silvery eyes
Appearance in suit: imagine Spider-Man's suit with none of that web pattern and glowing blue eyes
Backstory: raised in gleydan, by age 15 he mastered magic that could control metals and electricity. He used it to build a sort of suit to enhance his abilities and allow flight, but he keeps the suit mostly hidden unless it's a really urgent need for it's use. At age 20 he moved to atheau and got a job protecting it's borders.
Class: tech-mage
Weapon(ranged): light 1: electrical shot: fires a bolt of electricity from his body to hit the target
Light 2: dismantle: takes apart tech that the target uses
Medium: spasm: targets the electrical flow in the body to randomly contract muscles to force a spasm on the target (also drains a lot of energy)
Weapon(melee): Light 1:Lightning punch: covers first in electricity and slams the foe
Light2: lightning throw: grabs the foe and throws them away while pumping a blast of electricity at them
Technological upgrades: the earlier mentioned suit
Magic abilities: electric and metallic magic (I figure since I have so much tech power I should have only 2 magics)
Starting city: atheau, guarding the border

@Joshaftel Your walking along the top off the wall that surrounds the city. The weather has been pleasant today and nothing to strange happened. The sun is going down and you're rather hungry. As you run through several restaurants nearby in your head you hear a woman scream nearby.

Name: Shalen Riae
Age/Gender: 22/male
Race: Human
Appearance: 5,6 feet tall, red/brown-ish hair, brown eyes.
Class: Inventor/mage
Backstory: Born in the city of Thaedal, together with his dad, he tried to survive. During his stay in this city, he learned to create machines from all kinds of bits and pieces. He started to make little robots and weapons to sell on the Thaedal Market. Thanks to his success, he earned a lot of money and together with his dad he moved to the city of Kachiesau. Together they started their own company (Riae Inventions, aka RI) and Shalen is now making even bigger inventions then he did before. He now lives a much saver life together with his father (Thomas Riae).
Weapons(ranged): Shalen wields 2 duel pistols.
Weapons(melee): Shalen uses his own made blade.
Technological upgrades: engineering, inventing.
Magic abilties: Shalen has learned the ability to summon fire (he uses to melt metal for his invenstions) and to create any kind of metal on the spot (only small pieces of metal, say 10-10 cm). He also has the ability, thanks to experience, to spot weak spots in any sort of machines.
Starting city: Kachiesau.

 

Name: Miyakami (Normally goes by Miya)
Age/gender: 16/Female
Race: Angel
Backstory: She was born is Reswaiton. Her past is currently a mystery, and few know who her parents even are. Due to their strange disappearance when she was 5, her brother, Kori (lol cameo), raised her. Technology came easily to her brother, but she struggled with it. However, after unearthing a few old tomes that were likely owned by the Travelers (she was 10 at that point), she found out she was skilled at magic, even though she'd already learned swordplay from her brother. She practiced magic in private, worried how her brother would react if he were to find out. Eventually he did, and he sent his 13-year-old sister to further her studies at Gleydan.
Appearance: Long, Golden-Blonde hair, Royal Blue eyes, and a blue mage robe. She has light armor under her robe (she doesn't like it, she was forced to wear it), a gauntlet on both arms.
Class: She generally uses melee attacks with swords combined with her magic.
Weapon(ranged): If this is allowed, an old tome that allows her to fire... Essentially knives made of ice.
Weapon(melee): A katana charged with electrical energy. (Before you ask, Joshaftel, I got the idea of a lightning-katana long before Fates came out)
Technological upgrades: Nothing, but her left gauntlet allows her to hack machines. Machines without any protection can be hacked from a distance, otherwise direct contact is needed. She can only have a hold on one machine at a time, and she cannot use her left arm in the meantime, along with having to partially focus on the machine.
Magic abilities:
-Casting Ice Magic
-Creating Shields. They break after one attack, have a 15-second limit of being open, and require full concentration.
-Release a Pulse to slightly heal all nearby allies. Amount healed depends on range. She gets healed for half of how much her allies were healed if there are AT LEAST 3 allies in the radius. Can only be used once per battle.
-Detect enemies and allies in the area.

Do abilities gained from being engineered with monster DNA count as magical or technological? I listed them as magical for now...


Name: Robin Lyntrii

Age/gender: 18, male.

Race: Genetically engineered human.

Backstory: Robin is the result of experimentation in creating a race of beings outside the regular flow of time. Created using DNA from the most powerful of monsters, in theory, these beings would be able to move through time in any direction. Most of the attempts were failures, and of the successes, only Robin survived the stain of his own abilities. In the end, however, the experiments were only partially successful: While Robin could bend the laws of time, he could not entirely break them. Nevertheless, his creators saw his potential, and subjected him to intensive training, trying to weaponize his powers, which included training in everything from sharpshooting to magic. Eventually, he was freed by a military group who accused his creators of crimes against humanity. Not realizing what Robin was, they released him into the world, free to do as he pleased.

Appearance: Slender and slightly on the short side. A bit pale, with brown hair and very light blue eyes. Generally wears light body armor under a long coat.

Class: Assassin Mage (I guess)

Weapon(ranged): (1): Energy pistol. Not all that powerful, but has a high clip capacity and is easy to conceal. (2): Collapsable long range plasma rifle. Has a ridiculous amount of kickback and loading time, so it's only really practical for sniping/assassination. (3): Energy tether: a bracelet that can project a hard-light coil that can be used as a whip or a tether/grappling hook. Not much battery life, tends to run out at bad times.

Weapon(melee): (1): Short sword. Made of a metal that serves as a natural conduit for magic. (2): Collapsible dagger: Mostly just for assassinating things.

Technological upgrades: Though he has no body augmentations, he was trained in programming and hacking. The abilities gained from his genetic engineering could be considered tech powers, but I personally count them as magic, since they are derived from monsters.

Magic abilities: (1): Wind magic: Robin was found to have something of an affinity for wind magic during his training. He's certainly no master, but knows enough to get by.
(2): Time hold: using his monstrous DNA, Robin can bring time to a near-standstill, at the cost of extreme strain on his body and mind. He can move around and interact with things during this state, and everything he has affected during this period sort of snaps back into real time when he releases his hold. So, if he slows time, and scatters a bunch of objects in the air, they hang there, then abruptly fall when time returns to normal. This is not an easy power to use, all the others who were given it died of the strain.
(3): Flurry: something of a simpler ability, Robin can speed up his personal time flow, allowing him to move impossibly fast for a moment. Rather tiring, though not nearly as much as time holding.

His creators suspected he may still have untapped powers...

Your in your shop working on finishing some odd jobs when a girl who looks to be around 16 or 17 with dark brown hair coming down to her lower back and dull orange eyes walks in the door. "Hey, would you be able to make a customized rifle?"
