    Also, what's sublimation? I don't think the transition from a solid straight to a gas would make sense here...

    It does, we print a mirror of our design on special paper with special ink, and then embed it onto the coaster using a heat press. The heat and pressure cause the ink to sublimate directly into a gas, and adhere themselves into the polyester fibres embeded in the surface of the coaster. Once it cools, the ink becomes a solid again so it won't come off even if it gets wet or scratched or anything.
