Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"She's been harassed by multiple people. I'd rather not get into it." I say.

Abigail leaves the doorway, walking off.

 

Alice rolls her eyes.
"I'm surprised my people weren't doing that to get her off their backs sooner. Must've really been desperate times if they kept their mouths shut, knowing draconians..."

 

I narrow my eyes at Alice, "So you're saying she deserves harassment?" I ask.

 

"I'm saying that in the eyes of my people, yes, she deserves it. However, I wish both sides would just give the other a chance... all this stupid shit about the heinous things you've done over there when I know it's mostly just everything being lost in translation."

 

"I'm pretty sure Abigail would've given 'The other side' a chance if L-" I get distracted by a hissing sound from outside.

I quickly run over to Abigail, who seems to be lying against the water cooler with one hand where a cup should be and the other hand dispensing water onto it.

"Whoa whoa whoa, stop." I say, dragging Abigail away, who doesn't even show a sign of resistance.

 

Alice shadow travels to keep up.
"If who? Lidnis? Lady Ihra? Lady Xlentia?"

 

"I think I aught to take Abigail home before she tries to kill herself." I say, picking Abigail up and carrying her toward the exit. Abigail just lets herself be carried, uncaring about anything.

 

"Please, just tell me!" Alice pleads, following you as Sapphire stays a fair distance behind, albeit silently trailing.

 

"Linoa." I say, sighing.

Abigail shivers slightly, and I carry her into the elevator next to the exit doors of the detective's offices.

 

"If she did what?!" Alice continues begging, darting into the elevator.

 

"Harassed, attacked and even attempted to kill Abigail." I say bluntly, turning the dials with an extra hand.

 

"Do you know why?" Alice asks, just before you teleport off.

 

"Abigail got freaked out at some creatures for scaring her, she got knocked out, thought it was the creatures who knocked her out, found out it was some other creatures who also stole Linoa's staff, went to retrieve the staff and get revenge, got stopped by Linoa, let her anger out on Linoa because she thought she was defending the other creatures, realised her mistake, retrieved Linoa's staff and then Linoa attacked her in revenge for being attacked. Then when Abigail finally got the guts to try and apologise for her mistake, Linoa almost killed her and then harassed her for no reason." I explain.

 

You made a great explanation to a wall.

 

I groan, turning the last dial and teleporting to the portal room. I begin typing in commands to open the portal.

 

Seems Sapphire followed you in.
"I-I was there... you're all wrong." She nervously utters. "Linoa wanted to apologize, but Abigail startled her and Linoa thought she was an intruder. She's never heard the hissing a fire guardian makes when they touch water, so she got spooked."

 

"Yet she couldn't be bothered to apologise after?" I ask, typing in commands with an extra pair of hands.

 

"That's the other thing she wanted to apologize for... she was in telepathic communication with me. She says she thought she may have said her end of our conversation out loud."

 

"What did she say?" I ask.

 

Sapphire mimics what Linoa says, from her apology to her asking Abigail if she was really that weak to water. She then starts parroting something half familiar to Abigail...

"W-why can't it be that easy? I-I've always b-been a coward... n-nothing more... Please!"
"If I killed you, you'd never change."
"And I n-never will! Please, just..."
"I mean, if you want me to, I take requests. But, I hate you the way you are. And if I were to kill you, then I'd hate you forever. But if I were not to hate you, I wouldn't want to kill you."
"W-what?"
"I wouldn't even want to take up your offer. You're a damn preserver! Any loss of you guys and gals is huge, bigger than Ihra, even. Okay, maybe not quite that big."
"R-really? B-b-but everyone hates m-my puppets..."
"Bah! Screw them, you're talented and they're jealous! Didn't you watch Abigail at the tournament? You said she was great!"
"B-but everyone does that... skate thing..."
"Theatre isn't dead. Now, come on! Get yourself together... because I think I just said this crap out loud."
"What m-makes you think that?"
"I'm being threatened."
"O-o-oh, I'm s-so sorry... I-I'll try to help, I-I pro-"
"Hey, you do you. Relax. I got this."
