Artemis gives up, heading over to Katie to talk to her.


I summon a corpse.

"You sure about that?" I ask, already digging a claw-hand into the corpse.

 

"Even more sure now. If you were a bit less hostile, then coffee and sandwiches would be on me, but you are rather hostile, you need to not."
Linoa pauses.
"Okay... let me explain. Anubi despise hostility. They see it as a symbol of a weak mind. They can smell your emotions, too, so if you aren't honest, they'll refuse you anything. They don't fear death, so killing them won't get you anywhere except locked to the planet."

 

"You expect a genocidal demon to not be hostile?" I ask, strangely serious.

 

"Unfortunately, I've seen you be friendly, so yes. Plus, you ought to get them to like you. They won't give Artemis the relic if they know she's related to you. And they smelled her on you that day, so they know. Try not to mess it up for her."
She pauses.
"Actually, we need to hide Abigail from them, too. I had to use seven favors to keep her from being locked to this world."

 

"This place sucks." I complain.

 

Linoa sighs.
"How long has it been since you've had to put an effort into acting polite?"

 

"I'm going to go fufill my role. If they lock me here, fine. Their fault for locking a genocidal demon who wants them all dead in their realm." I say, de-summoning the corpse and heading toward the desert.

 

"You realize that's not your role in this reality? These aren't your rules you're playing by and breaking - they're ours. Vei's not the only one who died trying to keep you on our side, you know." Linoa says bluntly, following you on her staff.

 

"I don't give a fuck. If they're going to be a bunch of racists then they deserve to die." I say, striding toward the desert, flying across the chasm when I reach it.

 

"Says the one who claims to be fair because they kill indiscriminantly from fighters to newborn children." Linoa retorts, keeping tabs on you.

 

"Hey, I didn't kill her, I tried to give her the best life I could. I couldn't prevent her disease, so I gave her a new life." I say, offended.

 

"Funny. She sure seems to be suffering." Linoa says, equally offended as she glances straight at your blade.

 

"So she was sad about Stephanie, she's better now. Stephanie's alive, they made friends again, she's now just waiting for action." I say, Shadow Katana stained with blood in my hand.

 

Linoa looks at you, confused.
"The hell are you talking about? I'm talking Vei!"

 

"I thought you were talking about Eve. You know, newborn child and stuff?" I ask, walking across the desert.

 

"That's different. She's programmed to kill everything in front of her. No, I was talking about everything you've killed here."
Linoa stops.
"Hell, I dunno why I even try. What did Ihra see in you? Despite the millions of widows and thousands of corpses you've left lying in front of weeping parents and orphaned children, what did she see?" She urges, desperate to reach you. "I-I'm sorry... I shouldn't even have come... I just... was hoping I could still speak with my old tutor."

 

"Who's that?" I ask, looking around for any Anubi.

 

For obvious reasons, they're hiding.
"...Never mind. The stories of you with Ihra just made you sound like you had a heart. I'm sorry to waste your time." Linoa sighs, turning around.

 

"Wait." I say, serious.

 

"You are neither my nor their king." She responds, heading back to the forest.
