Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"You should come to the Shadow Palace to arrange things, then." I say, scheming.

"Aj, is your guitar tuned?" Katie asks happily.

"Oh, yeah it is." I say, before strumming out a pleasant riff. Artemis begins playing a tune on her ocarina alongside me as Katie starts to sing a campfire song, her singing voice divine.

 

"I-I can't afford to... I appreciate e-everything you've done, but I d-don't want to find myself in d-debt servitude again."

 

"It's fine, you can get, uh...the friend of royalty 100% discount. Or something." I say as I play the guitar.

 

"N-not like that... I hate being cooped up in the lab being monitored... u-um... a-a lot."

Sapphire seems to be able to keep playing steadily despite hesitating.
Linoa just watches, letting her eyes close.

...You-know-who-adillo is back, having heard the music.

 

"Just...come to the Shadow Palace anyway." I say flatly.

Abigail looks out of her lava pool to check if Linoa's asleep.

I try to ignore the wolfadillo, continuing to play the guitar.

 

"U-u-uh... I g-guess..."

Linoa seems asleep, hanging like a bat off her staff.

The wolfadillo just stays off to the side closer to Katie than you.

 

Abigail rests over the side of the lava pool, in what appears to just be her underwear; though it's hard to tell from just the upper part of her chest and above. Abigail simply listens to the campfire songs, content.

As the night goes on, the group continues to play campfire songs until it gets rather late; Katie looking a little more tired with each song until she eventually just falls asleep mid-song.

 

Linoa keeps her appearance of being asleep.

Sgavrinn sets the sleeping Katie on her iceberg via vines, and the wolfadillo balls up as it falls asleep.

 

Artemis and I head back to the shelter for the night, waving to Abigail who waves back before sinking back under in her lava pool.

"Thawassfun." Artemis says tiredly on the way back to the shelter.

"Yeah...my fingers hurt now." I reply tiredly.

 

As you all drift off to sleep, the night falls silent...

...In the morning, you're woken by Sgavrinn nudging you for food.

 

I groan, summoning a bowl of cereal for him tiredly.

Abigail looks out of her lava pool to see who's awake.

 

Linoa seems to be yawning, chasing off the wolfadillo.
Sgavrinn is the only other one awake.

 

Abigail quickly exits her lava pool, running over to the lake in her underwear and getting some water to drink; gritting her teeth as her hands hiss and turn red as she collects the water.

 

Startled, Linoa turns hard and points a spectral bow with a human-sized arrow at her.
"S-shit, I'm sorry... are you okay?!" She asks, dispelling everything.

 

Abigail seems terrified, trying to step back, but almost falling into the lake as she has nowhere to back up to.

 

Linoa throws up a barrier so Abigal doesn't fall in.
"...Y-you're that weak to water?" She asks, realizing what happened.

 

Abigail braces herself, covering her face and pressing against the barrier, assuming she's about to be hosed down with an icy jet by Linoa. A few tears drop from behind Abigaill's hands, Abigail clearly petrified.

 

Nothing of the sort happens.
"If I killed you, you'd never change." Linoa says bluntly.

 

Abigail considers her options, before diving and rolling sideways and running off into the forest as fast as she can.

 

She runs into a barrier.
"I mean, if you want me to, I take requests. But, I hate you the way you are. And if I killed you now, I'd hate you forever. But if I were not to hate you, then I wouldn't want to kill you."
