Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well... I dunno. I never really... knew her, or anything, so saying something nice kinda seems weird."

 

Artemis gives Sgavrinn a belly rub, laughing slightly.

"Abigail was sort of planning a campfire later. Plans were that you and I could go out foraging for mushrooms and firewood, and we could play some instruments around the fire a bit later. Katie was going to sing, I was going to play guitar and you could play your ocarina." I say, watching Artemis and Sgavrinn.

"That sounds really pleasant. I'm in." Artemis says happily.

Stephanie just hugs you, shaking and crying.

"W-What's wrong with m-me...?" Stephanie asks through tears.

 

"You don't have to say anything. It's just normal to give a moment of silence for the fallen."

 

I avoid the question.
"Out for 3."

"Oh, okay..."
Crystal goes quiet.

 

After being satisfied, Sgavrinn rolls back over and drags himself into the lake.

Linoa does too.

"...That wasn't so bad now, was it?"

 

"No, not at all."

 

"Now, let's try to find Eidun. He should still be in charge."

 

"Okay."
Pause.
"Where do you think he is?"

 

"Back office, maybe?" Linoa asks, getting up and checking for nameplates down a hallway.

 

Crystal follows, and does the same.

 

Neither of you find anything, but you find a bell on a more centralized desk in a back lobby.
"RING IF ABSENT"

 

Stephanie shakily breahes out.

Artemis looks toward me, and I smile.

"Shall we go?" I ask.

"Sure." Artemis says happily.

Artemis and I head off into the forest, looking for pieces of wood and mushrooms.

 

The pair know they're being guarded by the drow, but their presence never fades.

 

Crystal checks if anyone's behind the desk.

"One more time?"
I ask softly.

 

There's nobody.
Linoa glances at you, silently asking if she should ring the bell.

 

Crystal goes ahead and rings it himself.

 

"ONE MINUTE PLEASE!" Someone calls out from the back room.

Linoa waits, a bit impatient.

 

Crystal backs up, patient, letting Linoa take the lead.

 

Artemis and I spend the rest of the day foraging, Artemis picking any mushrooms she finds and taking small bites from them to determine if they're poisonous or not, while I pick up any fallen sticks, twigs and logs; leaving behind older logs that might house bugs or small creatures.

"Would it be wrong if I got some marshmallows for the campfire too? I mean, we can still roast the mushrooms, it just seems traditional to have marshmallows." I ask Artemis.

"I don't think it's that bad. You can if you want." Artemis says, smiling at me.

Stephanie breathes in, then out again.

"Thanks, Thirteen." Stephanie says, wiping her eyes.

 

"No problem."
I let it sit for a few seconds.
"Now, do you want to tell me what's on that page, or do you want to keep it to yourself?"
