Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Crystal follows Linoa, curious.

 

Stephanie exhales heavily, looking weak.

"Are they worse than genocidal demons who love torture?" Artemis asks, smirking as she retrieves her bow and quiver from her wooden clone; the clone still on guard.

 

I switch my hand to it's original position under her jaw.
"In through the nose for 3."

 

Stephanie breathes in through her nose, seeming familiar with the breathing exercise. Stephanie idly uncorks a few phials of dark green liquid.

 

As she approaches, there's another sandfall door she enters.

"They won't even talk if you're not bleeding. Worse yet, they know things - and they're too insane to mind read the rituals they know!"

 

I lightly grab her by the wrist with my other hand, making sure it's the wrist with the bottle in the respective hand.
I also switch my hand to her nose once more.
"Out for 3."

Crystal, still a bit paranoid, taps his foot to fall through.

 

Artemis seems rather disturbed.

"Thanks for the heads up. I...think I'll go and see Aj now." Artemis says, heading back toward the group, navigating the forest easily. Artemis' wooden clone salutes to the drow before following her creator.

Stephanie breathes out through her mouth, before trying to pull her hand and phials toward her mouth.

 

As he falls through, he finds himself in a grandly decorated tomb of sorts - except it only seems to be partially used as a tomb.
Linoa seems to be paying respects to the only coffin.

The drow bows as she leaves.

Sgavrinn seems happy to see Artemis, losing his grip on a tree branch as he splashes onto the muddy ground in front of her.

 

"A-ta-ta-ta."
I say, releasing her nose and restricting her hand from reaching her mouth.
"What's in the vial."
It's less of a question and more of a demand.

Crystal seems a bit shocked.
"Who's..."
He trails off, approaching the coffin slowly.

 

Artemis hugs Sgavrinn happily, and I soon walk over to Artemis.

"How was it?" I ask.

"It was alright. They gave me knowledge and a warning about an enemy we'll face." Artemis says, casually smashing the crystal the Elder gave her.

"Sounds good. Knowledge is power, after all. Know your enemy and all that." I say happily.

"A dose of calming potion." Stephanie says, still trying to drink the phials; about four in total.

 

"Do you really need that?"

 

"Yes." Stephanie says. Something tells you she doesn't.

 

"You have four of them."
I state, focusing on the probable overdose.

 

"So?" Stephanie asks, trying to free her hand.

 

The coffin has a nameplate
"Neith
Queen of Unified Sands"

Artemis suddenly gains basic knowledge of Anubi, their town, its location in the desert, and of a human group living in and beyond the chasm.

Sgavrinn gives her a muddy nuzzle back, humming happily to see her return.

 

"You'd rather have a calmness driven by large amounts of a potion rather than getting it yourself?"
I ask, but it sounds more rhetorical.
"You don't need that stuff."

Crystal seems incredibly confused.
"Wha..."

 

Artemis laughs, petting Sgavrinn while trying to get some of the mud off of her.

A few tears start rolling down Stephanie's face.

"I d-don't know..." Stephanie asks, shaking, slowly becoming an emotional wreck.

 

"It's both a memorial to the leader who managed to unify the two desert nations as well as their city hall." Linoa says quietly.

There's always the lake...
Sgavrinn rolls over on his back, hoping to be pet on his (muddy) belly.

 

I drop Stephanie's hand, and hug her.
"In for 3."

"Oh..."
Crystal clearly doesn't know how to act in this situation.

 

Linoa giggles a bit.
"What's wrong? Don't be afraid of messing up. Anubi are pretty friendly."
