Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"That's it, Sgavrinn! Keep swimming!" Katie praises, trying to encourage Sgavrinn.

 

The encouragement seems to give him more energy, but he...
well...
Kind of makes progress?
He's at least kind of moving forward, not being stationary.

 

Katie jumps into the water, swimming over to Sgavrinn before attempting to show him how to swim, acting as if she had the same sort of body Sgavrinn has.

"Like this, Sgavrinn!" Katie says happily, swimming along, while moving slow enough for Sgavrinn to see what to do.

 

Sgavrinn looks, and starts making actual forward progress.

 

"There you go! Keep it up!" Katie praises happily, swimming alongside Sgavrinn.

 

He keeps making tiny bits of progress, but it'll be weeks before he's an adept swimmer.

 

Katie continues teaching Sgavrinn nonetheless, praising the progress he makes.

 

"Can you read that runic language?"
I ask, curious.

"Thanks!"
Crystal calls over, before turning to Linoa again.
"Rit?"

 

"Yeah. It took be a while to get used to it, though. The author described it as the ancient language of magic." Stephanie says.

 

"Why's that? Did they find it in a lot of things having to do with magic?"

 

"I think it has to do with how magic...is really. I still don't fully understand what they meant by it, but from what I can gather, it's sort of magic itself's language, in a way...I think," Stephanie says, "Either way, it's a runic language I'm able to read."

 

I head through to Asimuul.

 

"Is it a matter of simple translation from common sense tongue?"

 

"There was a translator, uh..." Stephanie says, flipping back through the tome, "Here."

Stephanie shows you the tome. The page on it has each runic letter, then a common-tongue letter below it, as well as a pronunciation letter to show how to speak the language.

 

I stare at it for a full two minutes.
"Alright. I've got it. Thanks."
I smile.

 

After an hour going at it, Sgavrinn drags himself up onto the mud, tired.

"The Anubis at the counter. She and her brother run the place."

You enter upon a clearing, a forest to one side, desert to the other, and a chasm between. There's also mountains a bit of a distance away.

 

"...How do you know that?"

 

"I've eaten here before."

 

You notice a lot of the runes don't have common-tongue letter translations, running over the 24 limit into their own characters, though keeping their pronunciation.

Katie pets Sgavrinn happily, hardly tired at all.

"Good boy, Sgavrinn." Katie says, smiling.

 

He nuzzles her, a bit tired to do much else.
