Crystal thinks.
"I'm sticking with you. I can help out, make things easier."

 

"Thanks, hon. Means a lot... really."

 

"No problem. You ready to get out of this cave, at least?"

 

Stephanie eventually wakes up, deciding to walk over to you after getting up.

"Morning." Stephanie says sleepily, yawning.

All three accept the trinkets.

"Wow, thank you!" Artemis says happily in the drow's language.

 

"...Yeah. Let's go."
As Crystal steps out, what was a desolate desert is a bustling Anubi community. The cloaks seem to be standard.

"Guests to our home should be offered protection if nothing else. Especially those who know the language of the trees." The drow responds.

 

"In my world, I'm what's called a 'Forest Guardian'. We're protectors of forests, meant to stop humans and the like from chopping down the trees and disturbing the wildlife." Artemis explains happily, growing a flower with multi-coloured petals, each petal it's own colour, before offering it to the drow.

 

"Lead the way, I guess."
Crystal offers.

"Morning. What happened over in the desert that made you come here?"
I ask, paced slow enough for Stephanie to understand.

 

"As I remember, Abigail got freaked out by some Anubi, which are dog-headed people, I tried to calm her down by offering her a potion, she didn't want to drink it so I tried to force her, we fought for a bit until she knocked me out, and then..." Stephanie explains, thinking back, "I woke up in a cave with Abigail and Linoa, Abigail wanted revenge on the people who knocked her out and stole Linoa's staff and left, Linoa tried to stop her thinking she was going to attack the Anubi too, and then later on she came back burnt to a crisp, so I healed her, and then Abigail came back and threw Linoa her staff, but then Linoa tried to attack her with lightning, but it didn't work so Abigail flew off, then I went to see Abigail and she explained she felt sort of bad for losing control of herself and taking her anger out on Linoa, and she just wanted to come back here to get her body back because she'd gone into her elemental form. Oh, and to spend some time away from Linoa because she couldn't face her."

Stephanie looks a little out of breath after explaining the events of the desert, "Get all that?" She asks, rubbing her eyes.

 

"Sorry, one more time? I kinda blanked out."
I sound genuine, but then I chuckle.
"I'm joking. I got all of it."

 

Stephanie laughs, "I don't know if I even could explain all that again." She says, amused.

 

The drow accepts it uneasily.
"It must be nice for a world to have an entire race dedicated to its preservation."

Linoa seems to stand on a slightly off-colored patch of sand before tapping her foot, her body being pulled down into the sand.

 

"It didn't sound like you could."
I smile.
"So Linoa and Crystal are still in the desert?"

Crystal seems startled.
"Is that supposed to happen?"

 

"Races," Artemis says, "There are multiple types of guardian dedicated to preserving and protecting their respective element. Forest, Fire, Water, Earth and Air guardians are meant to protect their respective elements in their respective areas."

"As far as I know, yes," Stephanie says, "But Linoa said she'd be back tonight."

 

After a few minutes pass, she rises up back to the surface the same way.
"Thought you were coming?"

"Even better. It's nice to meet a fellow protector."

 

"It's nice to meet another protector too." Artemis says happily, smiling at the drow.

 

"Alright. Abigail should get prepared to face her."
I suggest.

"I am. I've just never seen an enterance like this."
Crystal steps toward the off-colored sand.

 

The drow's face is covered with a mask, and realizing this, they just nod.
"I hope you will visit us soon. Our elder may be interested in meeting you."

"Tap your foot, and if the way is clear, you'll be dropped into the structure below."

 

"I'm worried she might try to lash out at her or something, really. If Linoa is as hostile as she was, well...things might not go well." Stephanie says worriedly.

"I'll be very happy to." Artemis says, "I'm sure there will be much to discuss between us."

 

"We will see." The drow says, bowing.

 

Artemis bows back out of respect.


Katie wakes up on her iceberg, and looks around to see who else is near.
