Crystal seems to be playing this off way cooler than he should be.

 

"She's a damned fool. She walks in acting like a celebrity, and if things don't go her way, someone's going to sacrifice their honor to get rid of her."

 

"She is friends with one. That mentality can be toxic."

 

"Who?!" Linoa asks, concerned. "That fire girl isn't the worst?!"

 

"As far as I've seen, she is. But as far a reputations go, Aj's is pretty da-"
Crystal cuts himself off.
"Pretty high."

 

"I know about the shadow. Killed his best friend's mother. Heartless bastard... this group irks me, but again, an ally is an ally, so I'll wear a smile and just keep telling myself I am SO GETTING A RAISE FOR THIS."

 

Crystal chuckles.
"Do something for the reward, and there's no reason to do it. Find a better purpose, it'll pay off."

 

"I need the money to set up somewhere else. Getting a place to call home somewhere civilized amidst this mess is hell."

 

"I guess." Artemis says, sighing and shrugging, before turning back to Abigail. I soon head back over to Abigail too, and the three of us talk about various topics mostly personal to us.

Stephanie seems to have fallen asleep on a non-muddy patch of ground, nearby the hut. Considering the time, however, she'll probably be waking up soon.

 

"Thank you." I say, cutting the link.

I examine each to try to see which one may lead to a forest and a desert.

 

"Good point, but that doesn't mean you can't have a reason to be here, now. C'mon, there's got to be something. There's gotta be some reason that's not just the reward."

He gets out before the link gets cut.

 

After about half an hour, the drow offer Abigail and Katie a skull trinket and Artemis a leaf trinket.

After looking in all four, it seems likely they went to Asimuul.

She pauses, then just busts out laughing.
"I wonder if Rineth was in on all of that. He says I'm impatient. I mean... he's not wrong! Heh..."

 

"In on Abigail getting pissed off? I doubt it."

 

"Is she always like that?"

 

"Always? I dunno. But she is quite the hothead if you ask me."
Crystal grins.

 

Linoa just sighs.
"This is gonna be a long month, isn't it?"

 

"Sorry. That joke's probably been made a thousand times over."
Crystal still seems proud of himself, though.

 

"With her, I wouldn't doubt millions."

 

"Depends on how old she is, I guess."
Pause.
"So, you ready to go? We can't stay down here forever."

 

"Almost. I told the Anubi I'd help with reparations before I left. Feel free to head back, I'll be over by sundown."
