Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

It looks to be a voodoo doll resembling Linoa. Her tome is open in her lap, on a page detailing horned creatures with multiple colours of blood. Stephanie seems to be rather interested in the creatures as she idly threads together the voodoo doll, eyes yet to be placed.

 

"What're you up to?"
I ask, curious.

 

"Just doing some reading and voodoo. Usual stuff." Stephanie says offhandedly, turning the page in her tome.

 

"I mean, what's your intent? That doll's clearly Linoa."

 

Linoa soon is right up in Stephanie's face.
"Are you fuckin' kidding me? You voodoo users are why us witches have a bad rep!" She mumbles, frustrated. "Why do you want a doll of me?"

"Seems they have- hold on..."

 

"I like to make dolls of everyone, just in case I need to use voodoo on them," Stephanie says, showing you a doll of Abigail before putting it away again, "Voodoo doesn't necessarily need to be for evil intent. It can make healing simple wounds easier with the right doll."

Stephanie puts Linoa's half-made voodoo doll to the side, taking out her own voodoo doll, a phial and a knife. Stephanie slices her hand open, flinching slightly, before letting her blood fill the phial; hand shaking slightly. Stephanie's voodoo doll's hand becomes noticeably cut as Stephanie cuts her hand, and Stephanie grabs her needle before sewing it back up. As the dolls hand becomes sewn, Stephanie's own hand begins to close, threads appearing on it and closing it before it goes back to normal as the doll's hand is sewn up.

"See? As much as voodoo dolls can harm, they can heal too." Stephanie says happily.

"Personal reasons. I make dolls of all my friends. You never know when you'll need voodoo to save someone, or to restrict someone from doing something crazy," Stephanie says, before pulling out what looks like a crystal gun, "I'm fairly sure this brings down a witch's reputation more, by the way."

 

Linoa just falls silent.
"I've never seen voodoo used to heal. And you're damn right about that second count..."

 

"Can't get one of everyone, though. Although, you need to explain that a lot of times. Voodoo dolls don't exactly have reputations as nice things."

 

"I died a while ago. I was able to manifest as a spirit though voodoo, because half of my soul is in my doll," Stephanie says, taking out her voodoo doll. It looks very similar to Stephanie, a stitched on smile making it almost cute, "Without my voodoo doll, I don't think I could've been reborn as easily as I was."

"I can only easily get ones of beings with souls. Without a soul, you need something with strong linking to a being to put in the voodoo doll. Even then, the being needs to be individual enough to be counted as itself rather than it's parts." Stephanie explains.

 

"I only ask you don't make a doll of me. I now understand the benefits, but..."
Linoa cuts herself off before turning away.

 

"For clarification, do you have one of me or not?"

 

"Have you had bad experiences with voodoo?" Stephanie asks, curious, continuing to stitch the doll. Stephanie telekinetically cycles through buttons to choose for eyes.

"Yes and no." Stephanie says, pulling out a voodoo doll that looks just like you. The fabric used to make it looks metallic and shiny.

 

Linoa seems hesitant to tell.
"...Voodoo left me a widow."

 

"So, you've got one, but it's got limited usefulness?"
I guess.

 

"Burnt doll?" Stephanie asks, stitching eyes onto the doll.

"I couldn't bind it. You can have it if you want, it's basically a toy of you." Stephanie says, offering the doll.

 

"I don't mind you keeping it. You probably have more storing space anyways."

 

"Tortured through a doll during our renewal of vows. I swore that as I tore that bitch to pieces that I'd do my part to wipe the art to the brink. I... I'm sorry."

 

"A dimension's worth." Stephanie laughs, putting the doll back into her cloak.

"That's the most common use of voodoo, sadly. How much soul did they have, and what pins did they use?" Stephanie asks, finishing up the doll.

 

"I don't know. The only thing I know is that they were slowly bled out until they were spotted, in which case they tore my first love in two. With it, my heart..." She utters, hurt.

 

"Pins are generally harder to pin down, since it's mostly the soul and how much of it that matters. Normal pins generally do the job if there's a strong enough connection, though some pins can have different effects." Stephanie says, checking the finished voodoo doll over to make sure it matches Linoa.
