Crystal seems content with the conversation.

 

Linoa falls silent for a bit.
"You know... every day I check my horns to see if they reacted. I may not know what my daughter looks like, but... they will..."

 

"They react differently based on looks?"

 

"They will react to subconscious recognition. If I see my little girl, my horns will show it... and I will do anything I can to wrench her out of the Hive Master's hands..."

 

"Well, we've still got work to do."

 

"Four worlds worth of work. Hope you're ready for this."

 

"Hey, you get the easier end of this. You're only here for a month."
Crystal jokes.

 

"Plus thirty millennia."

 

"That, too."
Crystal smiles.

 

"Well, looks like they made up their mind. Shall we wait for them to enter first and just tag along for a while?"

 

"Sounds good."
"I like the sound of it."
"Desert seems cool."
"Mmhmm."
"I'll take the stairway to heaven." The group agrees.

Linoa feels a good part of her soul stolen and copied. Stephanie idly threads together voodoo doll while reading a chapter in her tome about horned creatures with varying colours of blood.

"Hey. How are your rocket boots holding up?" Stephanie asks, looking preoccupied with reading and voodoo, but sounding like she's happy to talk.

 

"Exactly where here in the palace though?"

 

"Yeah, sure, if they've chosen already."

"Very well. I'm glad I have them in these halls, trips would take much longer. Good to see you're holding up well."
I respond, smiling.

"We're about to enter one of the portals in the portal room."

 

"I'm alright I guess," Stephanie says, shrugging, "If there's a problem with your rocket boots, or you want something added, I'm sure Abigail and I could do it."

 

"There's not, but noted. And, speaking of Abigail, do you know if she can fix a starmap?"

 

"Probably. What do you mean by 'Starmap'?" Stephanie asks, looking up momentarily.

 

"It's just a map, used on spacecraft for navigation, I think. I've never seen a working one, just a broken one that if Abigail fixes, we can maybe find this guy named Sivius who can help us if we convince him. The 'convincing him' part is probably the hardest part."
I elaborate.

 

"Abigail's pretty good at electronics and stuff, so probably. I mean, she did create a visor that can track invisible entities." Stephanie says, shrugging and going back to her voodoo.

 

"That's good, then."
I take a better look at what Stephanie's working on.
