Sapphire sighs.
"How long is it going to be?"

 

"i think around fur" Onyx says, doing the maths in her head.

 

Sapphire sighs.
"Oh boy."

 

Onyx just gives an awkward smile; her feline teeth noticeable compared to normal teeth.

Sapphire shakes her head, chuckling.

Sapphire seems to be waiting outside the Shadow Palace, worried

 

"Can I help you?" A guard asks kindly.

 

"Is Aj and company almost ready? Rineth's recovered and he's going insane waiting."

 

"The king is expected back soon. His partner took him away for undisclosed matters but assured us they'll return some time today." The guard says.

 

"Please send them to Xlentia's palace when they return. We're just waiting on them."

 

"I shall let them know when they arrive." The guard says.


A while later, Artemis, Katie, Abigail, Stephanie and myself step through a portal into Xlentia's chambers. Artemis and I seem to be wearing flower crowns, while Abigail carries a skateboard with a gold medal around her neck.

 

A female draconian sitting on a spear like a witch's broom seems to be waiting.
"Ah, you must be my love's other friends. It's a pleasure to meet you! Mind us all starting with names?"

Sapphire sighs.
"Thanks for coming, and congratulations Abigail!"

 

"Thanks! Why didn't you show?" Abigail asks, smiling.


"Psst, Stephanie, she's a witch like you! Put on your witch hat!" I say quietly to Stephanie.

"I'm not putting my witch hat on, Aj." Stephanie says flatly and quietly back.

"Put it oooon!" I plead quietly.

"No." Stephanie says quietly, annoyed.

"Oh come on, please?" I plead quietly.

"I'm not putting on my witch hat, Aj!" Stephanie says, raising her voice, before realising the others can hear.

"At least sit on your broom." I say quietly, smirking.

"I swear to god, Aj..." Stephanie says, quietly again, seething with anger.


Artemis sighs, "I'm Artemis. This is my boyfriend, Aj, and my friends Abigail, Katie and Stephanie." Artemis says, gesturing to each person as she says their name.

"Hi! It's nice to meet you!" Katie says happily, offering a handshake. A scarily sharp golden double trident is held upright in her other hand.

 

"Little caught up with Onyx, sorry." Sapphire sighs.


Linoa accepts any offered handshakes.
"I'm Linoa, polearm trainer here in the palace and warmage. Also Rineth's wife." She says, smirking.

 

"For most of today?" Abigail asks, offended.


"Rineth never mentioned he had a wife." I say, suspicious.

"How did you meet Rineth?" Artemis asks.

 

"For the past three days." Sapphire says bluntly.


"We were forced to marry by the Hive Master. I fell in love, but he didn't quite go in as much as I had... except he can't call for the divorce."

 

"You couldn't have at least taken her with you to see the race?" Abigail asks, hurt.


"That's really sad." Artemis says, empathetic.

"Just because you're married doesn't mean you can't not love each other. Even if you can't get a divorce, you could just like...pretend you're not married." I say.

 

"I don't actually have access to Earth, either. I had to sneak into the Shadow Realm to even try to reach you..." Sapphire sighs, tearing up.

"He acts like we're not, but he's the best aerodancer you'll ever see. That's why I love him."

 

"Oh, well...I guess that's a valid excuse." Abigail says.


I whisper something to Artemis, and we talk in whispers for a bit.

"Is Rineth alright with being married to you?" Artemis asks.
