Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I decide to go investigate the source of the crashes.

 

"Good. Did he tell you the other reason?"

It's written poorly. Emerald clearly hasn't rewritten it...

The direction that Sgavrinn went yields no signs of damage anywhere.

You hear a giggle beside you.

 

I draw Shadow Katana, pointing it in the direction of the giggle.

"Who are you and what do you want?" I ask, on edge.

 

"...Nope, I don't think so."

I try to understand the ledgable parts at least.

 

Sapphire takes her mask off.
"S-sorry... I got bored a-and didn't know how to ask you... um... c-can I travel with your group?"

"Hiding things."

You make out a route that he took while travelling, and a few speculations where he's going next.
There's also a rough sketch of his weaponry and a rundown of spells he's been sighted using.

 

I sheathe Shadow Katana, sighing.

"Yeah, if you want. Sorry about the hostility, I'm just sort of on edge." I say, somewhat stressed.

 

"T-thanks... what's the m-matter?"

 

"I have like, a date or something with Artemis really soon. I'm...nervous about it," I say, checking the time again, "She said it'd be something special for the both of us, and left it at that."

Something seems to hit me, and I put a hand to my head, "Oh god, you don't think she wants to get...intimate, do you?" I ask, stressing out.

 

"That'd work."

I try to make out specifics on the spells.

 

Sapphire looks at you blankly.
"...Can I choose to not comment?"

"Specifically, runes or glyphs. A little notch is a lot to be able to hide. Nothing like a heal spell just waiting for that lucky shot to land."

He seems to use light, dark, and earth magic, though he apparently is able to manipulate other elements slightly.

 

"Sorry...god, I'm so stressed. Why am I so stressed. Ugh." I say, extremely stressed, checking the time again.

 

"I'd imagine it's nice, but I don't really have experience with that."

I look around for the other books that Emerald previously pulled out, and look for the spot that this book belongs.

 

Five minutes.

"I-it's okay... y-you love her, r-right? W-why wouldn't you m-make the next step?"

"You may want to look into disconnect runes. If they are, as their name suggests, disconnected from the majority of your body, you can have a spell automatically cast. Like, if you lost a hand in combat, you could have either a heal spell to reform a new one immediately or a gravity spell to keep them grounded while you escape."

With all these books, the only practical way to do this is to go inside the Archives and ask.

 

"Alright."
Pause.
"When?"

I go into the Archives, and look around for people or things to ask about a book.

 

She shrugs.
"I dunno. He's paying for your lessons, though, so it's not like I'm doing anything else for a while."

The only one ever there is Emerald.
"Too messy? Common complaint. It's been in the rewrite queue a while."

 

"He? Like, which he?"
Crystal asks, confused.

"Indeed, and I'll support that complaint. Any more documents on Sivius? I get that he's a myth and all, but theories aren't really what I'm looking for."

 

"Nilarq. Said you were worth a quarter of his salary for a month, so I shut up and cleared my schedule. If you haven't picked up on that yet, I'm yours for a month." She says. "Linoa's the name. Only one Emerald spars with against polearms."

"Unfortunately we don't have much more than theories." She says, the book title advancing a few hundred thousand slots on an eternally long list. "However, again, anything you can find about him from the portal is new information for us. Even if you found something new, these books are generations old."

 

"Oh."
As it hits him, it almost looks like something actually hit him.
"Oh."
Pause.
"Well then, Linoa, we've got a month."
He states confidently, smiling.

"We just found some unicorn-people who apparently got some help from him. What's the best thing you've got on him?"

 

"Look, I do what you ask as long as I'm okay with doing it. If you want to drag me off on some adventure, I'll go, but if I were you I'd make the most of this opportunity. Nilarq's never paid anyone in advance for anything, ever, until now. You have questions as we go, ask. You need a break, ask. You want to work on something else for a while, ask." Linoa says. "All you have to do is put up with me for a month, sweetheart."

"That's better than the stuff I have. What'd they say, if I may ask?"

 

"Then let's do some training. Thirty days goes by quick, in my world."
Crystal says, waving his hand outward as a signal to take the lead.

"Their ruler's name was Lyxa, and to quote him directly, 'We have gotten word of a mythic wanderer drawing away the force that presses our extinction. He brought them back to their ruined homeworld, yet somehow word got back that he found the answer to one of his questions.' as well as, 'Unfortunately, that involves finding him. The biggest issues there are, A; last time I heard from him, he was walking alongside a ruthless killer who wishes for the universe to return to null, and B; he's somewhere roughly on the opposite end of the cosmos.' and I think one of the more important things was, 'His destinations seem utterly random.'"
I don't take too long getting the quotes, and say them with confidence.
