its coz this survey is not to see how much you can pay but to see how much you own, so the hypothesis is in theory if no scamming is involved the higher total level you are the more you have, because you'll keep getting more money and items as you level up. the difference in wealth would be caused by the trading you hv done to increase or decrease the value of the item
saying that you will never sell something then it doesn't count as your wealth will break the survey
i know there are smart people in the forums that would want me to go on for detail in how the survey works but its honestly hard to calculate anything if too much variable is considered

This study is already biased as most wynncraft players don't have a forum account, and many who do don't use it.

Also this study doesn't take into account VIPs. If A person has a total level of 505, it could mean either that he is a nondoner with five level 101 classes or he's a possible donor with five level 50 classes and five level 51 classes.

 

A vip can't have 5 level 50 classes and 5 level 51 classes though...

most wynncraft players does not have forum account doesn't cause a bias because there are no specific population that the forum people only represent, data collected so far also show theres a more or less normal distribution in level ranges, one could argue that forum population can only represent the more active community of wynncraft's community, however more active players are most likely to participate in this community and contribute to the main wynncraft's community. so the research is not bias towards anything.

Edit: moreover the forum is just used as a medium for sampling its is quite frankly unlikely to find all of the wynncraft player to fill the survey


the study also does not need to take into account vips, total level is just a simplified indicator of the person's effort/skill put into wynncraft as the effort/skill does not have a quantifiable number to represent. What you stated is wt researchers call extreme cases, however in typical research studies it is to assume that statistics are in normal distribution, so using your example, it is unlikely that a person with total level of 505 hv 5x101 or hv 5x50 + 5x51. Ofc as we know @WayvernX is a living example of this extreme case but in the generalised context this is a blind variable that only be counterbalanced by multiple extreme cases if this particular variable can affect the result, but in our case as total level is used as the indicator, it is not needed to take into account of VIPs or not

There's the bias right there. People who tend to be on the forums tend to be more active, meaning that they would, logically, have more money than an average player, as they would simply have more time on wynn.

It's actually at least somewhat likely the first option would happen, as extremely active people without the money to spend on VIP(+) would be immediately cut off from further leveling, and would thus accumulate more wealth while not leveling at all. The second is debatable, but was mostly used as an example anyways, and not a likely scenario.

 

true, but at the same time the active players are the main part of wynn's community, making the survey on active community members more representative than lets say randomly finding players from detlas

yes, in theory this is the case and this is what I'm trying to prove/disprove. if the total level does actually make you more wealthier like you said, then my result after the survey will come out with a positive correlation. and if the sample size is large enough there should in theory be a clear cut in wealth at around lv 500 (non-donor max) and lv 700 (vip max). this is assuming that level does contribute to wealth
