Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Gaia changes into her smaller form to head up to the 14th floor so she doesn't end up breaking something, before saying hi to Tenebrae.

"How are you finding this alternate universe? It's history is rather fascinating." Tenebrae responds.

"It's strange, but also interesting! Apparently there's another me in this universe who didn't make guardians or Earth? It's really odd to think about." Gaia says happily.

"That's certainly strange. I can't help but think Xlentia is the alternate version of me, though why I'm a dragon in this universe I'm not sure." Tenebrae says, rather confused at the thought.

"Well, didn't Theodore say there was an infinite amount of possibilities? I would think that means that there could be a Max in this universe who's...I don't know, a penguin?" Gaia suggests, laughing.

"I don't see how the powers of death could be channelled through a penguin, Grace, but as you and Theodore said, infinite possibilities." Tenebrae says, joining in with Gaia's laughter.

"I'm going to go find someone called Commander Emerald to hopefully get some plants from this universe. See you later, Tiffany!" Gaia says, waving to Tenebrae as she heads back to the stairs and continues her ascent.

"I believe I've met her. She's very nice to talk to." Tenebrae says after Gaia, before going back to her reading.


Gaia eventually makes it to the top floor, not even seeming slightly tired out, before looking around for Emerald.

 

There's an open door labeled "Archives"

A feminine voice calls from inside.
"Another? Come in..."

 

I land, and Crystal reforms into a human.
"Thirteen, Crystal, asking around."
I say swiftly and to the point, gesturing to each of us respectively.

 

Gaia heads in happily.

"I was wondering if you knew where I could find some of the plants in your universe? I'm quite interested in seeing how they might be different to ones in mine." Gaia asks respectfully and cheerily.

 

"Asking around? Where you from? You clearly aren't a Pyrrhic native." They respond.

Inside is a paradoxically large/small room of seemingly endless relics, weapons, and documents.
"I can tell you straight off, here isn't a good place to start. The gardens have some flowers, but that's the best you'll get here unless you try to reproduce the Void Flower, in which Xlentia would be at your throat begging you to do so." Emerald responds bluntly.

 

"Where should I look? Do you have ways of transportation to other worlds?" Gaia asks, curious.

 

"There's a portal room four doors down on the left of the right hall. Again, you could also try out some seeds from the flowers in the garden, but there's not much there."

 

I casually wander over a bit more towards Crystal, while he still seems a bit in shock, not really understanding what's happening.
"Unless it's officials, in which case don't lie completely. Watch."
I whisper.
"I'm from a lab, he's from an island. Don't know the names of either."
I say to the guards.

 

"You don't look hostile. Welcome, in that case; don't melt." They say, parting.

 

"Ok, thank you! I'll check the portal room." Gaia says happily, leaving a flower with green petals on the floor as she leaves.

 

I look at them curiously, walking in with Crystal.
"Is that supposed to be a metaphor?"
I ask them.

 

Emerald glances at it before returning to her previous work.

Once Gaia reaches the portal rooms, she can sense that Mortius checked two of the portals out already.

"No." The guard says, pointing to the magma river below.

 

The flower seems to let off spores of a sort, which create various pleasant scents within the room.


Gaia decides to pick one of the two portals Mortius hadn't checked, looking through to see what lies on the other side.

 

"Huh. Thanks for the warning, then."
I say, entering the city with Crystal and looking around to get a good view.

 

One has her appear in a clearing between a forest and a swamp, while the other has her appear on what looks to be nothing, but turns out to be perfectly clear ice going all the way down to the bottom of the frozen ocean. There's a desert, volcanic area, and an island hidden by a stormy sea.
Gaia gets an off feeling about the fleshy... thing... in the desert.

It's a simple town. Kind of low-tech, but everything made with igneous rock bricks. Cooling magma also seems to be used for concrete and such, the road appearing red hot despite being safe to walk on.

 

"This is cool. I've never really seen this kinda thing be used before for roads."
"Yeah."
I offhandedly comment, looking at the people around.

 

Gaia's curiosity gets the better of her, and she steps out of the portal onto the clear ice, touching it. Gaia's hair and eyes turn an icy blue as she raises her hand, bringing up some of the clear ice with it, trying to ignore the fleshy thing.

"How did you manage to form?" Gaia asks the ice, curious, looking down to the bottom of the frozen ocean.

 

Most of them are fire beings. A few others wear protective gear, but not much.

The ice slowly regenerates, filling the indentation of the lifted ice.
Seems the answer is just "magic" as it tends to be.

 

"Think we're gonna find any water-magic users here?"
Crystal jokes, and I smile, looking around at the buildings, seeing if there's a sign or anything that indicates what each building might be.

 

Gaia dives into the ice, able to swim through it like water as she swims to the bottom of the frozen ocean, looking for any evidence as to what could be causing the magic that makes the ice regenerate.
