Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

They don't seem to be able to talk, but a winged serpent flies over.
"Are... are you another Gaia?" It asks, confused.
The pet creatures find the attention very welcoming.

The remaining spirit flies towards a green dragon happily running down the halls with a draconian rider, spirit merging with body as they meet.
"S-slow down, boy!" They nervously laugh in passing.

"Emily. Or Emerald. Head Librarian works too, I guess." Emily says. "I keep tabs of every book, every relic, and everyone who comes in and out of the library. Haven't had a truly lost book in centuries until Aj and crew came and melted a shelf."

"Hello...? I'm Ren...
Who is this?" He asks, timid as ever.

 

"It is I, Dominus Terrae. I wish to inform you if you havn't heard that Xlentia is no longer influenced by the Hive Master."

 

"Another?" Gaia asks, confused.


Mortius smiles, though to outsiders, he just looks like he stares at the rider and dragon from his hood.


"Well, it's an honour to meet you, Emily. If it isn't too much to ask, would you be able to direct me to some books on the history of your reality's gods? I'm quite interested to see what has changed between mine and yours." Tenebrae asks respectfully.

 

"That is good.
Sorry, my king.
I couldn't tell."

"You sssmell like Gaia, but do not look like ssshe doesss..."

She waves, trying to hold on.

"What language?" Emily asks, rolling out a five meter long scroll.

 

I look up to the distortion, looking at it, looking to find something that looks like a northern star.

 

"If you would like, I can take you here to the palace. I mean, you did after all do a great service to my kingdom, so it is only right for me to repay you."

 

Nothing of the sorts in sight there. It'd be too hard to tell from the ground, anyways.

 

"How can I not look like myself?" Gaia asks, even more confused.


Mortius waves a skeletal hand back.


"The language of my children, the Shadows, optimally. Though, if that is not possible, I will happily read the common language." Tenebrae says respectfully.

 

"They brought me.
Been at palace.
Threw big party.
Said I'm night.
I'm still confused."

 

"What do you mean you're night?"

 

I pick up one of the broken weapons from the ground.
"Crystal, get out of the room."
"Why?"
"I'm going to throw this at the distortion, see what happens."
"Isn't that a little dangerous?"
I just shrug, and Crystal exits the room as I prepare to throw the weapon.

 

"Rumorsss of another have ssspread throughout..."

Mortius now seems to be alone, hold a few mourning the fallen.

"Fourteenth floor, above the entryway. Section SHDW, shelves 7 through ten." Emily says. "Also, Mistress told me you have permission to search the archives should you wish. Must've had a great first impression if she's trusting you that much right off the bat."

The distortion is in high orbit, you already established that.

 

"Knighted, with a silent k. It is what monarchs do to show their thanks and appreciation towards someone.
When a monarch knights a person, the monarch is essentially turning the person into an important person."

 

In orbit of what?

 

"Oh... knighted. Okay.
...what'd I do?" Ren asks, still curious and still as confused as ever.
"Why'm I important?
I just hide."

 

"That's kind of scary...she isn't trying to steal my guardians, is she?" Gaia asks nervously.


Mortius leaves, idly wandering the palace and looking for anything that appears interesting.


"Thank you very much, Emily. I shall treat the books with the utmost care." Tenebrae says, before shifting back into darkness and reforming on the 14th floor, looking for the section marked 'SHDW' before any books on the history of the reality's gods.

 

The planet. You already flew up to the point where you decided it would be best to not go after it or think about it too hard.

 

"In your eyes, you may have done nothing important, but in my eyes you did. You helped find the airships and identify the culprits."

 

"Guardiansss? What do you ssspeak of?"

There's a lab with two people in it, a cryostasis chamber, a room with four open portals, a training room, and a bunk room.
And, of course, the library.

As Emily said, there's four entire shelves of them, written in perfect shadow tongue as if by a native speaker.
They seem to be sorted by known facts, their roles and events they influenced, who primarily worships them, and any other myths.

"Looking isn't hard.
Others here look.
Why not them?" He asks.
