Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Oh wow! They're not hurt making the walls, are they?" Gaia asks, concerned.

 

"No. In fact, laying dormant in the walls is how they stay alive. This is... kind of a hostile place if you get too far from my palace." Xlentia sighs. "It's... sort of like an animal shelter. If it got kicked out for any reason, it's here. And that means anything..."

 

"Aww, you're so kind!" Gaia says, smiling warmly.

"Well, your reality certainly seems rather normal compared to ours. Temporum warned we may end up in a reality where absolutely everything is completely different." Tenebrae compliments, smiling.

 

"Heh, you haven't seen anything. There's this bastard who calls himself the Hive Master who's been forcefully enslaving gods, formerly me included." Xlentia grunts. "Luckily, I got out of his grasp thanks to the king of Tenebrae's realm."

 

"What?" Gaia asks, her tone changing along with her hair and eye colour to a flaming red, "How has he been doing this!? And for how long!?"

Mortius turns to Gaia, most likely out of concern.

 

"I dunno. We can't just storm in, though. I advise you only go to worlds I have already seen to be safe, else it may become your problem as well as ours." Xlentia warns.

 

Mortius puts a skeletal hand on Gaia's shoulder, looking at her under his cloak as Gaia turns to him.

"You're right..." Gaia says, nodding, her hair and eye colour shifting back to a vibrant green.

"Did you have a tour planned for us? Or are we to explore your reality on our own?" Tenebrae asks respectfully, trying to shift the subject.

 

"I didn't have time to plan a tour. I'd figured you were all capable of looking around on your own. The only thing I ask of you is not to step on anything that's skittering by."

 

"I promise I won't!" Gaia says happily.

"I'm sure that won't be a problem for any of us, especially as we can take on a smaller form if required." Tenebrae explains.

"Oh yeah! Phoebe gave us that power a long while ago to interact with the mortals, didn't she?" Gaia says happily, turning to Tenebrae.

"Well, she didn't need to give it to me, but yes." Tenebrae says, nodding.

 

Xlentia pokes her chamber door open with her tail.
"If you can get past the mess, feel free to look around. I told my librarian you may swing her way."

 

"Thank you, Xlentia. We shall treat you reality with as much respect as we treat ours." Tenebrae says, bowing, before leaving Xlentia's chamber, Gaia and Mortius following and heading off in separate directions, wary not to step on anything.

Gaia decides to curiously look into the first room she comes across with life in, while Tenebrae looks for the library, using the Shadow scribes working there as a point of reference. Moritus changes to a smaller form, about thrice the size of a draconian, and looks around the corpses for souls to help on to the spiritual plane.

 

There's life everywhere; moving about, in the walls, and especially in some room behind a particularly thick wall.

Few souls need help moving on. Many Ethereals look at him nervously, uneasy about his presence.

In the library, there's thousands of readers and trillions of books.
...and one particularly strong presence in the back of the 30th floor.

 

Gaia searches around for an entrance to the room behind the thick wall, curious.


The Ethereals that catch Mortius in the eye under his hood are given visions of their deaths, though nothing new to them. To the souls that need help moving on, Mortius appears to be a very kind and trustworthy young man in a dark cloak, a sense of ease and calm about him.


Tenebrae shifts into darkness, reforming at the front of the 30th floor in a size that won't break through the flooring or ceiling. Tenebrae curiously goes to inspect the presence.

Many of the Shadow scribes seem to have paused their work, bowing upon seeing their god.

 

Perhaps the hallways?

Those lost approach Mortius with caution, the others soon recognizing him as a god of death.

Tenebrae finds the door open a crack.
"One moment please." A female voice calls, things being filed visible through the crack.

 

Gaia explores the hallways around the wall, hoping to find an entrance, her excitement and curiosity growing.


"There is no need to be afraid of me, I only wish to help you move on." Mortius says, voice only heard by the lost souls.


Tenebrae waits patiently, giving the female her privacy and not deliberately looking through the crack in the door.

 

By the central hallway, it seems to be coming from the mass of people going in and out of the library.

Some come closer, others leave.

A minute later, the door opens.
"...A goddess?" The voice asks, papers and relics of all sorts being flung around and organized.

 

Gaia seems rather disappointed, exploring a bit on the other side of Xlentia's palace and looking into a random room she senses a lot of life in, looking past the life signals the walls give off.


Mortius extends his hand for the spirits who come to him, those that take it taken with him on a journey reviewing their life to come to terms with death and moving on to the spiritual world, giving each a choice to stay in the current plane of reality or move on to the spiritual plane afterwards.


"Greetings. I am Tenebrae, Goddess of Darkness. I am responsible for the creation of the Shadows you see working in this library. I sensed you were a being of great power, so I came to investigate." Tenebrae explains, smiling.

 

She doesn't really need to look far.
Chimera of all sorts and other various twisted creatures seem to be attracted to her presence.

Most choose to move on, only one wishing to remain.

"Thank you for the compliment, but I thought Mistress Xlentia was a tad delusional when she mentioned an alternate reality." An emerald scaled draconian says, showing hersef to Tenebrae. "At any rate, it's an honor to meet you, goddess Tenebrae."
All the work and sorting doesn't even slow.

As I make my way to the garden, I set up a telepathic communication between myself and Ren.

 

Gaia soon seems to notice, picking up a few of the Chimera and twisted creatures in her large hand, gently stroking them with her other; trying her best not to accidentally crush them.

"Aww, you poor, poor things! What kind of horrible monster forced you together like this?" Gaia says sympathetically, clearly saddened by the look of the creatures.


Mortius doesn't question the one who wishes to remain, letting them stay as a ghost and giving them a kind smile.


"Well, I mustn’t lie, I wasn't much of a believer in alternate realities myself until I spoke to Xlentia," Tenebrae says, laughing slightly, "It's an honour to meet you too...uhm?"
