Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Shadow Stephanie nods, before disappearing back through a portal, embarassed.

A long while later, Xlentia feels someone attempting to contact her telepathically.

 

She lets the link through.
"Hello?"

 

"Hello, Xlentia. It's Tenebrae. I'm sure you shall be happy to know that I've arranged things with the other gods to come and visit your reality. Unfortunately, the god of time won't be able to come, as he'll be the one behind us returning safely. I do not want to overhwhelm you, however, so the only additional gods coming with me will be Gaia, Goddess of Life, and Mortius, God of the Spiritual Plane. " Tenebrae responds happily.

 

"I look forward to your arrival! Also, keep an eye on the king of your realm. He seemed completely drunk after we first spoke." Xlentia replies, doing a last minute coat-check of sorts.

 

"He's doing an awful lot for us to communicate, so he was probably just mentally weakened from connecting us. Nonetheless, expect our arrival to be soon, Gaia and Mortius should be arriving in my realm to transport to yours very soon." Tenebrae says happily, the connection's power halving as Tenebrae clearly plans to leave.

 

"I didn't know he was exhausted. My apologies. See you soon, then!" Xlentia replies, letting the connection cut.

"The scribes, Mistress..."
"They will be fine. See to it that things are sorted out for our guests."
"Yes, Mistress."

 

"Woah..."
"Crystal, come over here."
I say, walking over to the panel, Crystal following albeit still thinking about what he saw.

 

The panel seems to be twisted into a letter of sorts.

 

I read, or try to read, the letter.

 

It's nothing you've seen before, and it's too hard to understand from the ground.

 

"What does it say?"
"Not sure. It's not documented in my programming at all."
"What about the sky thing?"
I look, and Crystal points to the thing he saw earlier.
"I'll go check what that is. Remember to keep lookout."
"You think something's still alive here?"
"I don't want there to be. At least, I don't want it to be hostile."
I fly up to the dark-sky thing.

 

It seems to be a distortion in high orbit. You probably shouldn't go that far up. No signs of being a portal or anything else. Your best guess is that it's the result of a weapon being fired.

From above, the twisted paneling seems to spell "NE"

 

"N-E."
"What?"
"That's what the twisted panel says from up here. It spells out N-E."
"Oh."
"Also, I'm not touching that."
I point to the distortion.
"It looks like it got fired from a weapon, probably one of these now-broken ones."
I land.
"Okay, but what does N-E mean?"
"A place? Initials? Part of a sentence? I don't know, but there might be more around."
I look around for anything else in the room that might prove useful.

 

A broken compass gives you an idea.
Maybe it's a direction?
If only you could tell which way north is...

 

The connection is cut.


After a bit of a wait, I step through a large and growing portal into Xlentia's chamber, clearly focusing my power on growing it. Once the portal is about the size of Xlentia, I shout "You should be good!"

The ground begins to shake, and a gigantic female Shadow steps through the portal, ducking as the portal isn't quite big enough for her to stand up straight. Compared to Xlentia, the Shadow is about normal size, however. The room appears to darken quite a bit with her presence.

"Thank you, Aj." Tenebrae says, looking down at me and smiling.

"My pleasure, Goddess Tenebrae." I say, bowing.

The ground shakes a little more as what appears to be a gigantic Forest Guardian steps through the portal, long green hair trailing past her shoulders, followed by a massive dark figure; cloak covering all of its body, hood covering its head. It's hard to tell, but the figure doesn't appear to have any discernible legs or feet. The only visible parts are a pair of skeletal hands holding on to a scarily large scythe.

 

Xlentia seems to have been mid-nap.
"Muh... agh, you meant soon by a mortal's definition... I'm so sorry about this."

 

"Whoa! A dragon that's my size! Can I ride you?" Gaia asks excitedly.

"That's fine. I can't say I've not done the same myself when expecting a visitor." Tenebrae says kindly.

 

"Heh, may be a bit early for that!" Xlentia says, laughing a bit at Gaia's eagerness.

"Well, this is my palace. Sorry about the untidiness." She says, smiling at Tenebrae.

 

"You certainly appear to have an affinity for money." Tenebrae says inoffensively, noticing Xlentia's gold pile.

Gaia reaches out and touches one of the walls curiously.

"Your walls seem weird, what are they made of?" Gaia asks, turning to Xlentia with her hand on one of the walls.

 

"Draconic instincts." Xlentia shrugs.

Hundreds of small creatures sniff at Gaia's hand before reforming the wall.
"Native Void Creatures in hibernation make up this entire structure." Xlentia explains.
