Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"The King and Queen requested you see them in the throne room." The guard says.

 

Seems nobody's willing to challenge a god...

Alice books it to the throne room, still tired.

 

Upon arrival, the guards open the doors for Alice, bowing. The throne room is filled with people. Detectives, soldiers, and various other high standing beings, including Shadow Stephanie and I; easily visible through the crowd, thrice our normal size. As the people notice Alice, they begin to applaud, the applause turning into a mix of cheers, whistles and claps as Shadow Stephanie and I make our way over to Alice.

 

Alice clearly doesn't know what to do, and just kind of locks up.
She reaches out to you telepathically.
"What the royal fuck is going on? ...my king."

 

"A ceremony for the amazing work you've done for your kingdom." I say to Alice, being close enough to audiably speak.

 

"Do I bow or kneel or what? You're my king and the queen's right there! I woke up five minutes ago please help me comprehend this! ...your highness! -es!"

 

I sigh. "The biggest problem is when people recognize you."
I decide to go find a map and look at it.

 

There's a bunk room, stasis room, and the garden to look at still

 

I go to the gardens.

 

"This is a ceremony for you. You don't have to do anything." Shadow Stephanie says, laughing slightly.

"Except make a speech to the kingdom. The larger part of the ceremony begins in...forty five minutes." I say.

 

"And not faint. And. Not. Faint..." She says through smiling, grit terth.

 

"The chefs are working to provide food for the ceremony, so just ask one of the waiters walking around here for anything you want. Maybe something to take the edge off so you don't faint." I say, smiling.

"I can't say I won't laugh if you do." Shadow Stephanie admits.

"Alice!!!" Katie shouts happily, pushing her way through the crowds and running over to Alice, hugging her.

 

Seeing Katie makes Alice loosen up, her hugging back.
"You are exactly the person I need to see!"
Alice forms a link with you and the queen to carry on two conversations at once.
"The chefs know, I get the same thing every time. Waffles and raspberry tea. Or, at least, my guards do." She laughs.

 

"I'm so happy for you! I knew you'd do well in your job, and you did wonderfully!" Katie says happily.

"Don't let it get to your head, though. Nobody likes an egotist." Abigail says, walking over.

"I'll get you some now, then." I say telepathically, looking for the nearest waiter and walking over to them.

 

Alice laughs. "Guess I made the most of my chance." She says, beaming.

"Is this enough to at least be an honorary shadow?" Alice asks, laughing.

 

"Obviously." I reply, returning with a large cup of raspberry tea, a raspberry resting on the side of the cup, and some golden-brown waffles with just the right of syrup and perfectly placed butter, offering them to Alice.

"Excellent job on that case, Alice," A detective says to Alice, having walked over, "Had it not been for you, I never would've found the source and destination of those kidnappings."

 

"My king, I am truly grateful... but I'm with the queen on this one. I'd like a place to sit down first..." She giggles.

"How many gangs were busted? All six, or the two I got right up to the bosses in?" She asks, curious.

 

"All seven, actually. We got info on them from the bosses of the two you found, from there it just chained on until we found every gang in the kingdom and managed to shut them down." Shadow Stephanie says, a soft chair appearing behind Alice.

"With the links from the other detectives and new information from the bosses, we were able to piece everything together to eradicate the gangs. The amount of women who were abused we found is sickening. Forced into sex slavery after being kidnapped," I say, shaking my head, "The slaves we found have been reuinted with their families, and given enough money to put their lives back on track."

"You were key to that, Alice." Shadow Stephanie says, smiling.

 

"Shit... um... does that mean I put people out of palace jobs?" Alice asks, worried as she sits down.

 

"No, there are still crimes and cases to solve, but this was by far the biggest problem in the kingdom. Besides, the detectives and soldiers who worked to solve these problems will also be getting reward money, you'll just be getting...slightly more, since you were the key part of the entire thing." I explain.

"The entire kingdom can rest easily at night because of your work." Shadow Stephanie says happily.

"And they're waiting for you, outside the palace." I say, smiling.

Katie smiles at Alice, proud.
