Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The head detective sighs, picking up the phone on his desk and dialing a number.

"Yes, this is head detective Yxun. I have...a being, here, called Alice who I think could use a check over. She can't seem to empower people despite appearing exactly like a Shadow. Mmhmm, yeah, mmhmm. Oh today? I'll send her over then. Thanks, bye." The head detective says on the phone, before putting it down.

"Head down the the labs. I've scheduled a check over for you to find out what's wrong with you," The head detective says, "Sorry for the trouble, Hannah. I'll find another detective for the case."

 

Alice does as told, downtrodden.

 

Once Alice arrives in the labs, a few scientists seem to be waiting for her.

"Ah, you must be Alice. Yxun scheduled an appointment for you, come with us." The first scientist says, opening the metal doors for Alice.

 

Alice reluctantly follows.

 

I continue watching the fight.

Crystal decides to follow the path to the gardens.

 

The scientists lead Alice through the sterilisation room, heading into a room near the entrance to the labs containing a table.

"Just lie down on here and relax. We're going to perform a few harmless scans on you, so just wait for them to finish and stay still." The scientist says.

 

The gardens are well tended, if not a little singed.

Alice does as told, reluctant.

 

The scientists leave the room, the door closing behind them. Shortly after, a row of harmless lasers scans over Alice in many different ways, sometimes rapidly alternating directions as it moves across her, other times slowly moving in a wall over her.

Not long after the scans begin, they end. The scientists enter the room again, holding various documents.

"Alice, we have some bad news. As it turns out, you're not actually a Shadow," A scientist says, "While you have similar properties to one, your body being made of darkness, you yourself aren't actually a Shadow. More so...a being who's body is made of darkness, but isn't malleable like a Shadow's."

 

"So... what does that make me?" Alice asks, confused.

 

"Our best theory is that you're a draconian who's body was turned to darkness through some hex or curse." The first scientist says.

 

Alice seems frustrated.
"So... I'm just rejects in both cultures..." She sighs.

 

"Well, we're currently informing the king of this news. You might want to speak to him to see what he can do." The first scientist says calmly.

 

Trembling, she gets off the bed.
"I'll try."

 

The scientists move out of the way for Alice.

 

She heads up to the throne room, confused and looking lost.

 

Alice runs into me exiting the throne room.

"Oh, there you are Alice. I was just about to look for you, haha." I say, laughing slightly.

 

She seems on the verge of crying.
"I don't wanna be exiled..." She sniffles.

 

"Hey, hey, it's alright. I'm not going to exile you because you're not a Shadow. Haven't you seen the guardians walking around the palace? You don't have to be a Shadow to stay here." I say, before embracing Alice in a hug.

 

Alice hugs you back.
"I-I've been hiding who I am because being a shadow makes me accepted here..." She cries, keeping her voice down. "I-I'm sorry, but Alice is just my nickname..."

 

"So you knew you weren't a Shadow this entire time?" I ask quietly, "And...if Alice is just a nickname, what is your name?"
