Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

She finds a massive resistance as she tries to grab the crystal, the crystal ending up being thrown down the alley out of sight.

The knife is simple, looking like a kitchen knife stolen from someone's home.

 

I take several drawings of this, before going to the nearest book and reading it.

 

"Oh. Frost, water, and earth?"
Crystal guesses after a few moments.

 

Her eyes flash crimson as she slides the knife back where it was.

Random selection results in something in a language you've never seen...

"Oh god no on the last two. Try air, and, though this goes both ways, life."

 

I look for a book under common tongue and pick a random one.

 

"Oh, sorry."

 

Katie throws her hands into the air suddenly, causing snow to fall around her.

The pair soon find themselves at the beginning of the incline up to the palace, "This was a fun trip." Katie says happily, glancing back at Alice.

 

This seems to be a record of poisonous plant types and their uses across worlds.

"It's fine. You're still a rookie."

Alice smiles back.
"I enjoyed it. Thanks again for everything! Sure beats sitting around all day."

 

"Yeah, I always like to get out and do something every day, even if it's just a swim." Katie says, smiling as she heads toward the palace.

 

"Yeah, I guess so."
Crystal pauses.
"You sure you don't wanna go at it?"

 

"I don't ever have plans. Not many people here seem big into me since I'm practically the only draconian here. That and I lived in a pretty bad part of town. Did what I had to get by." Alice sighs. "I hope the king gives me a job so I can turn a new leaf."

"Kid, do you want to know what dying feels like?" Nilarq asks, taken a bit off guard. "We've never seen a rookie ask to fight an instructor on day one for millennia..."

 

Katie pauses.

"Maybe I could put in a good word for you, just to make sure you get a job." Katie says with a kind smile.

 

Alice shakes her head.
"It means a lot, but I dunno. I want to be hired if I'll be useful, not just because we spent a nice day together." She says, trying to stay positive.

 

"Well, it sounds like you'll do fine with that kind of attitude." Katie says happily, heading toward the palace gates.

 

"I dunno what it's like but that's kinda the point, isn't it?"
Crystal argues.
"And I'd kinda want to know if you've seen any other talking magic rocks around."

 

"I sure hope!" Alice replies, keeping up.

 

The guards open the gates, letting Katie and Alice into the palace gardens.

"I think I'll go for a swim now...I could use one." Katie says happily, heading toward the palace.

 

"Many puremetal golems fell to my blades. If you insist, I will grant you one duel, at a price; you'll have to find another instructor unless you land a blow on me."

"I'm wiped... I'm going to rest before I request to talk to the king again. Have fun!" Alice replies.

 

"Good luck with talking to Aj, I'll see you around!" Katie says happily as she heads into the palace, guards at the doors opening them for her and Alice. Katie skates off into the palace on a quickly-melting sheet of ice that forms in front of her, spinning around and waving back to Alice as she skates around the left corner.

 

Crystal thinks for a moment.
"Can I get a non-elemental spear first?"
He asks, seemingly taking up the challenge.
