Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"It's okay. I'm sure I'll manage. I have for years." She says, trying to keep her head held high.

 

Katie thinks for a bit.

"No...I'm sure he won't mind, as long as we're quick. Come on, let's go get some money." Katie says, smiling as she heads toward an elevator.

 

"So does fire and light."
Crystal recites.
"What next?"

 

Alice follows hesitantly.

"Answer this; how do you handle another ice user?"

 

"Don't try freezing them?"
Crystal suggests.

 

"Duh, but how do you beat them?"

 

"Fire?"
Crystal holds up his vacant hand, a fireball in it.

 

"How about darkness?"

 

Katie flips through the book of dial codes in the elevator, before finding the page marked 'Gaming Room' and turning the dials to their positions. The pair are shortly transported to the gaming room after.

Artemis and I look at Alice and Katie rather surprised, "Oh, h-hey guys, what are you two, uh, doing here?" I ask, laughing nervously.

"Oh, uh, I was just wondering if I could borrow some money. There's some really nice clothes I found in town that I wanted to buy but I don't have enough money for them. Please could I borrow a few diamonds?" Katie asks innocently.

"A few diamonds? Really?" I ask, slightly shocked.

"Pleaaase?" Katie asks, pulling a sad expression.

Artemis nudges me, nodding to Alice and Katie, then back to me.

"Oh, alright." I say, summoning six diamond coins in my hand and giving them to Katie.

"Thanks Aj! You're the best!" Katie says happily.

 

Alice blushes, trying to hide behind the elevator door, sheepish.

 

"Oh, hey Alice," I say, noticing Alice trying to hide, "I've sent out a team to stop those gangs. Everything alright with your personal body guards?"

Katie heads back into the elevator, turning the dials before waiting for Alice to respond, as not to be rude.

 

"Y-yeah... u-urk... I-I mean, yes, my k-king... I beg your f-forgiveness for m-my informality..." She utters, embarrassed.
"A-ah... I look like a wreck, d-don't I..."

 

I shrug, "Yeah, and you're forgiven." I say casually.

Artemis smiles at me, and Katie turns the centre dial, teleporting the pair back to outside of the throne room; however facing the doors to the palace this time.

"That went well!" Katie says happily, offering the diamond coins to Alice.

 

Alice still seems shaken.
"T-thanks... C-could you escort me t-to the shop?" She asks nervously.

 

"Oh, alright." Katie says, confused at why Alice is so shaken.

Katie heads out of the palace, guards at the door opening them for her and Alice, and she walks toward the city through the palace gardens. A few forest guardians can be seen tending to the various flowers and plants in the garden, the grass green and flowers vibrant colours.

 

Alice stays close.
"Disrespecting the royalty is kind of punishable by death..." Alive utters.

 

"Oh, really? I haven't seen Aj kill anyone. Well, anyone in his palace, at least," Katie says, "Though I'm not a common visitor of your realm."

 

"I-it's a shadow thing. Um... the shop is a few blocks from the middle of the city. Apparently a normal draconian works there."

 

"It's certainly interesting to learn more of your culture. I've never really asked Aj about it, though." Katie says, chuckling as she leaves the gardens through the gates. Katie heads down the path leading away from the palace and toward the massive city, her attention drawn to a crushed building visible from the higher vantage point given by the path's incline.

"I wonder what crushed that building..." Katie says, thinking out loud.

 

Alice seems surprised.
"That's, like, Xlentia sized..."
