"Raspberry?"

 

"Excellent choice, I'll bring it to you when it's ready." The waiter says happily, walking off.

A few moments later, a water and fire guardian walk over to the table.

"Mind if we sit here?" The fire guardian asks, hand on one of the chairs.

 

"Not at all." She says, slightly nervous.

 

"Thanks." The fire guardian says, sitting down alongside the water guardian.

"Nice we're allowed to order whatever we want here." The water guardian says to the fire guardian.

"Yeah, but the question is, where are they getting all the food? We can order anything, but it has to come from somewhere, right?" The fire guardian says.

A waitress walks over to the pair.

"What can I get you two?" The waitress asks.

"Can I get a bowl of spicy noodles and some apple juice?" The fire guardian asks.

"Sure thing, and for you, Miss?" The waitress asks the water guardian.

"Um...I think I'll have, um, bacon and eggs with some beans on toast?" The water guardian asks, "Oh, and a glass of water."

"So that's spicy noodles and apple juice, and bacon and eggs with beans on toast, with a glass of water?" The waitress asks.

"Sounds good." The fire guardian says.

"I'll bring you your food and drinks when they're ready, then!" The waitress says happily, walking off.

 

Alice looks at the fire guardian's claws, if present.

 

The most she can see of the claws are slight sharp tips, yet the fire guardian seems to notice.

"Checking out my claws?" The fire guardian asks, crossing her arms in front of her as a pair of obsidian claws are extended from their gauntlets.

 

"I had a hunch... Abigail? Friend of the king that travelled with Ihra?" She asks, suddenly excited.

 

"Damn straight." Abigail says proudly, sliding down her visor whilst throwing and catching a fireball in her other hand.

 

"And does that make your friend Katie? It's an honor to meet you!" Alice says happily, holding her hand out in hopes of a handshake.

 

"Yes, I'm Katie." Katie says happily. Abigail shakes Alice's hand, before Katie does too; a contrast between hot and cold from each handshake.

"I didn't know we were so famous. Who are you, if you don't mind me asking?" Abigail asks, smiling.

 

"My name is Alice. You guys are part of Ihra's legend - I thought it was just a myth that a young girl and the shadow king with his friends went out to stop the Hive Master, but then I met Artemis and she told me it was true! I felt bad for her because she missed Ihra, though..." Alice says, realizing she may have made a bit of a mistake mentioning Ihra's name.

 

"How'd you meet Artemis? I thought she was off making out with Aj twenty four seven." Abigail asks.

"We've yet to fight the Hive Master...though it's a little tough to stay positive without Ihra around." Katie says, slight sadness in her voice.

 

"I went to talk to the king about the gangs planning to burn my house down. She was in line behind me, then the king allowed me to stay here a while."

 

Crystal smiles, grounds himself and re-adjusts, before looking like he might go for a jab.

 

"Huh, I guess Aj was doing his job for once. She probably was going just to make out with him though." Abigail says.

"I don't think they constantly make out, Abigail. Besides, you should be careful what you say, you never know who's listening." Katie says nervously.

"Pfft, like Aj or Artemis care. It's fairly obvious they're pretty passionate together." Abigail says.

A plate of waffles with butter and syrup is slid in front of Alice, and a cup of raspberry tea is placed beside it.

"Enjoy your meal." The waiter says, smiling before leaving to attend another table.

 

Nilarq doesn't flinch.

"Slandering the king is a crime, I thought..." Alice adds, trailing off and going into her food.

 

"Probably, but I doubt Aj would want to throw one of his best friends in jail or something." Abigail says, greedy eyes latching onto her food as it arrives.

"It's most likely best to not insult Aj anymore, though." Katie says, starting to eat her food.

 

"Not in the palace. Pretty much everything here is monitored, I heard."

 

"Well, schlit." Abigail says, partway through eating a forkful of noodles.

"I'm kind of worried about going to see Xlentia. Our meeting was supposed to be days ago, but we've mainly been relaxing here after being stuck in vats for almost a month." Katie says nervously.

 

"I dunno. If you had to go against her, she's probably resting too."
