    BACKGROUND
This story takes place in a magical and sci-fi world of Zyxtia (This isn't related to anything on the web). There are six races who live in Zyxtia: Humans, elves, dwarfs, hobbits, fairies, aquatins. These races are always in conflict (exception to hobbits because they like everyone).

This is a made-up story in the fantasy world of Zyxtia. This story was inspired by many stories of Wynn. Give me any feedback that is needed. Just to note that this isn't a serious book, its just for fun. Anyways, here's the first chapter.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Chapter 1

    The Elves

“Allow me to explain,” the Headmaster said, “You two are expelled from our academy for breaking three rules. We, as a community, cannot tolerate that.”

“But we didn’t do anything wrong. Wait, what did we do wrong?” I said.

“James, you should know.” the Headmaster scoffed.

    “No, I really don’t.”

“You and your sister first broke school property. You then injured multiple teachers. Finally, the worst of all, you tried to burn our beloved academy down to a heap of ashes”

“Headmaster, we never did any of that.” my sister, Dawn, said.

“How can you explain these?” he produced three photos from his pocket of what seemed like two elves causing chaos upon the academy. I stared at the photos blankly.

    “That’s not us” I said.

“I don’t believe it. Out you go.” the headmaster waved us out, banishing us into the cold forest. The Headmaster always has the final decision.

“Wait! We need shelter! Please give us-” the door slammed on me.

A wind blew, throwing snowflakes onto our faces.

“This sucks.” Dawn kicked a patch of snow.

“Where do we go now?” I said, shielding my eyes from the wind.

“We’re only 12, we can’t survive!” Dawn leaned against a pine tree, “I think we should just give up.”

“Wait, you want to die?!” I screamed, “Are you insane?”

“We’ve got no chance.” Dawn already had a dagger in her hand.

“At least we can try.” I swatted the dagger into the snow and picked it back up.

We headed into the unknown wilderness, the moon rising and the sun falling into the horizon. The pine trees made a dense shadow that thickened the darkness.

“I should make a camp” I said, “you can try to start a fire”

I snapped the twiggy fingers of the trees and collected branches full of leaves to make a tent. Dawn picked up two stones and twigs and smashed the two stones together, generating sparks from the impact. The sparks flew into the twigs, emitting a red glow. Unfortunately, the fire was blown out from the wind. I continued on my tent, weaving twigs between twigs and eventually making a tent shape.

“Ta-da!” I gestured fancily at my handiwork, “How do you like it?”

“Better than what I’m doing” Dawn said, she struck the two stones together, but the sparks died in the wind.

Dawn collected more stones and soon started to create a circle inside the tent, “Get some logs.”

I grabbed an old hatchet that was abandoned from its owner. It would work, but not so well, as it was rusty. I struck the tree with all my might, but alas, the hatchet snapped in two. I threw down the two pieces in frustration and screamed. I kicked the tree, but it didn’t budge from its gnarly roots.

“Can’t you use a spell or something?” Dawn said from the tent.

“I can start a fire,” I began, “but it needs a spell book with the words it in order to work.”

“Maybe a strength spell?” Dawn replied.

    “No such thing.” I shrugged.

“Fine, I’ll do it myself” Dawn rose from the tent and jumped into the air. From her training, she was taught how to use the air for her advantage when she jumped.

She produced a dagger and started sawing off a thick branch. Wood chips flew with the wind as she cut the wood. The dagger sawed faster, creating a buzzing sound. I heard a crackle and the log started to lean and detach from its tree. Dawn caught the log with ease, she fell down the tree and went to the tent, dragging the log.

Meanwhile, I placed some kinder in the fire pit. Dawn placed the log in the middle, making a tent for the fire.

“This should work,” I said, holding my breath, “If not, I’m not sure what we’ll do.”

Dawn took the two stones, blackened from sparks, and struck them once more. We shielded the sparks from the harsh wind and held our breaths. The sparks fell slowly to the logs, once it landed it died.

Dawn sighed and rapidly created more sparks, this time successfully creating a glowing red spot on one of the twigs. I blew on it, giving it oxygen. And to my surprise, the fire burst from its spot. Dawn cheered and I smiled and fist pumped. Later that night, Dawn hunted two squirrels and roasted them over the fire pit.

So this was our first night in the wilderness.

    ***

The sun glared into my eye, waking me up on a luxurious bed. I rose from the thick covers and paced around the room, confused. The stone tiles clicked under my feet. The sounds echoed off the ceramic walls. Weren’t we just in the forest?

“Dawn?” I called, scared being alone.

Suddenly, a knock came to the door. Being polite, I opened the door. Hoping it was Dawn, I smiled. Yet, it was a human in a dark tuxedo and red necktie.

“Hello, sir,” I said, “do you know where I am?”

The human said nothing, but reached into his pocket. He pulled out a tablet, he whispered words into the device and then slipped it back into his dark tuxedo. He smiled menacingly.

Two hands suddenly sprouted from the floor. I felt the cold stone pinning me down and dragging me out of the door.

“DAWN! SOMEBODY! HELP!” I screamed, kicking my legs.

I suddenly was pulled from my dream, I looked at Dawn, who was bruised everywhere.

“What’s wrong with you?” Dawn hissed.

    “A dream,” I said, “just a dream”

I wiped cold sweat from my head. It wasn’t just a dream.

“We should get something to eat.” My stomach growled in agreement.

“What’s this?” she lightly pushed a steaming bowl of mushroom soup toward me and smiled.

I inhaled the soup, nearly burning my mouth. I thanked Dawn and said, “When did you learn how to cook so well?”

“Remember that cookbook you stole?” she hinted.

    “Oh yeah.” I said, smiling.

“Where to next?” she stomped the fire out.

    “I don’t know. Wander, I guess.”

We demolished the tent piece by piece and scattered the members and joints to hide that we were here. Unable to find our sense of direction, we blindly walked into the woods, not knowing what to find next.

It was almost dusk when we heard a familiar piercing whistle that made a sharp pain in our pointy ears. Oh no, I thought and said, “Hide.”

Before we could jump within the leaves, a voice called out, “ELVES!”

Arrows flew everywhere, coming straight for us. An enchanted arrow narrowly missed me, puncturing a tree and shivering, making a twang. Without any words said, we fled away from the danger. We kicked up snow as we ran and soon the hunters found no more of us. We were deep into the pine forest.

Dawn and I were breathing heavily and shaking with fear.

    “Elf Hunters.” Dawn growled.

We hid ourselves in a large spruce. The overlay of snow acted as a curtain to hide us. I peeked through the thin leaves to make sure that the hunters weren’t following us. I heard no footsteps and saw no flashlights. Good.

We sat on the broad branches of the spruce and rested. I sighed. Elf hunters were terrible humans. Their souls were corrupted as they hunted elves for potions and such. They were a society that dwelled mostly in the central city, which was on a massive floating island suspended by gigantic fans and nearly over 100 thrusters. The only reason that they wanted this horrible job is that, with great shame, it would bring great salary to those who had the job. There were also Dwarf Hunters, but not many existed because dwarves can defend themselves greatly.

The sun was now hidden below the looming, majestic mountains and a waning moon rose.

“I think we should be safe.” I whispered.

“You think…” Dawn muttered as she slouched against the bark.

To my horror, my sensitive ears heard the footsteps of the hunters crunch as they flattened the snow.

“Scratch whatever I just said,” I whispered, “they’re here.”

The two of us sat silently on the branch with our hearts in our throats.

“THERE THEY ARE!” a hunter pointed toward us and arrows and bullets whistled through the air.

Miraculously, we managed to dodge the speeding projectiles. A hunter leaped into the air and drew back his bow, at the same time, Dawn quickly drew her’s and launched an arrow at an instant into the hunters unprotected heart. As he fell, his partners watched his dead corpse collapse in a heap.

A hunter grumbled and tossed a blade attached with a rope. It was a flying axe, most people who were lumberjacks used the particular tool. The axe sliced the branch we were standing on. The branch cracked and landed into the ground, creating an indent into the earth. We fell to our demise in absolute horror.

One of the hunters locked our hands into a sealed handcuff, which is a more secure version of regular hand cuffs, having multiple locks instead of one.

“Please don’t kill us, we’re just kids!” I pleaded.

“Doesn’t matter,” the hunter said coldly, “as long as we get payed, I don’t care.”

A vehicle came between the dense trees and the hunters crammed us in the back. The vehicle showed logo that was long gone, and its paint was aged and peeled, I could see the rust below.

Inside, it was cold and cramped. There wasn’t much space. There was only one window that was tinted black for citizens to not see their prey.

“Captured by the hunters. I can’t believe it.” Dawn whimpered and sniffled.

“I’m not giving up,” I said bravely and stupidly., “I think we still have a chance”

“You never give up, James. And just when you think that you’re getting somewhere, we get in a worse problem.” Dawn sobbed.

The vehicle lurched as it traveled across the rocky terrain of the Elven Forest and the Xantein Mountains. The trees minimized as we drove closer to the Main City.

    Goodbye home.

    Hey, this is good.
Your writing is amazing, and the story is also good, being open to many possibilities.

I think, though, that your setting is a bit unbalanced. This world can be a bit more complex than all of the races just always in conflict. Also, the story seemed to be a bit rushed. We don't know what elves are, what they are capable of, and whatsoever. More descriptions on where they live, and what their lifestyle as elves are. They are different from us humans anyways.

Other than that, this piece is good! I'm still developing as a writer so... :P

Thanks for the feedback! I just did this for fun and I'm not even a writer. I'll probably add more information about the elves later.

The first person to give feedback! Yay!
