Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"No...Well...I don't know...I just...I'm curious if I could..." I say sadly.

 

"I can, but it would be your request... it is very taxing."

 

I sigh, "I'll see if there's anything else I need you for...I don't want to use a request on such a selfish thing..." I say, shrinking back down rather quickly to a comparatively minuscule form.

 

Xlentia pauses.
"Damn you for having a girlfriend." She sighs, before lying down.

You feel a weak telepathic link.
"A-aj? Can you hear me?"

 

"Were you going to...hit on me?" I ask, concerned.


"I hear you. Who is this?" I ask telepathically.

 

"I like my partners powerful and loyal." She mumbles. "Don't give me ideas."

"Y-you wanted to talk to me, I thought?"
It clicks - Ihra.

 

"Ihra!? O-Oh my god, Ihra, I can't believe it, I-I-I'm sorry, for not being there for you. I'm so sorry I couldn't say goodbye, you must've been so confused, and I-I'm sorry, I should have seen you out..." I say hastily, trying to say as much as I can, tears starting to roll down my face.

 

"I-it's okay... I knew you needed to get out... I just didn't know it got that bad that fast... I'm sorry I couldn't help."

 

"You did, Ihra, you saved all of us. You managed to pacify Xlentia, had you not done that...I-I don't know if I'd even be alive right now. I-I also wanted to say...I'm s-so sorry, for...killing Vei...I-I swear I didn't mean to at the time, I was such an idiot, I'm sorry, Ihra. I shouldn't have messed around with time..." I say, tears starting to fall to the floor of Xlentia's chamber.

 

Ihra falls silent.
"...I forgive you."
She cuts the link.

 

As the link is cut, I fall to the ground, landing hard. Tears stream down my face, and I stare blankly upwards.

 

"It's okay, dear. She wanted the best for you, and I'm sure you won't forget each other." Xlentia consoles.

 

"I-I need to go s-spend some time w-with Artemis..." I say, before disappearing into a cloud of darkness, which soon dissipates.


The group of earth guardians study the parts of Alpha curiously, telekinetically turning them to observe their wiring and materials.

 

The wiring is suppirtive, and the plating is insanely dense - comparable to a star.

As for Alpha itself, it takes the form of a hound with blades at several parts and a hidden compartment for riders. It seems like a simple construct that's little more than unnecesarily large.

 

"This is quite the piece of work, Sophie. One of the greatest machine's I've seen in a long time." An earth guardian says, surprised.

 

"Thank you. Thanks also for not calling Alpha a robot." Sophie says, working on what looks like a tangle of threads.

 

"Do you not like the term?" The earth guardian asks.

 

"Derogatory towards puppets and puppeteers. Hardly anyone uses my craft nowadays."

 

"Ah. I'll make sure to not use it, then." The earth guardian says, picking up a few other pieces and looking to see how they'd connect.

 

The pieces seem nonsensical, but combined form a joint smoother than a robotic joint turns.

"Thank you, then."
