Does Arrow Shield Need A Nerf?

Nuuu my build relies on arrow shield

 

what build is it

 

Not really a build that has the strongest shields, but a water/air build (arrow shield's elemental base dmg).

 

I agree and warrior struggles against it especially with the ws builds

yes because as we all know there is no skill point that reduces the cost of spells and archer is clearly weak for pve because 20 or so block reach and the the speed large amounts of knockback you can deal and high places you can camp at, totally archer terrible for pve

 

As if I said "10-mana" to imply that intelligence can't be invested in and totally not mean to emphasize that it's a high-cost spell. Nope, 100% context fam.
And as if all the other things you said about archer are nowhere relevant to other classes as well. Oh non-defensive archers get destroyed by same level mobs with projectiles or if they get too close to melee mobs? Oh don't worry just find a place to camp, right, assassins don't have smoke bombs, mages don't have meteor, warriors don't have war scream, no, those don't count and "range attacks", those are just flashy cosmetic gadgets.

Bomb Arrow Spam FTW

 

lvl3 arrow shield is actually trash comparing to lvl2 arrow shield (aside from it's aesthetics and what you showed in the thread).

 

Too All them nerfers: the fuck am I supposed am I supposed to do with juggling mobs? Like aside from it being funny, that's about it

 

1) Arrow Shield does as much damage as Bomb Arrow. In addition, the Shield can remain up for ~50 seconds before fading if not broken, making that high mana cost moot since you can just cast it before-hand and regen your mana.
2) The shield has a misleadingly long radius. The visual effect is something like 2 blocks, the functional range is 3 blocks, but the actual -damage- effect is more like 4-5 blocks.
3) Arrow Shield deals Air and Water damage. Since it deals Water Damage, this means Archers can inflict any and all elemental damage with just their spells, which even Mage with its 4/5 spell rating can't match.
4) The knockback can be used to JUGGLE MOBS if you have enough intelligence(which only boosts the water damage and encourages that, btw. They can't do anything about it since they're blinded)
5) In more open areas, Arrow Rain is actually rather effective, and the arrows from the rain deal 100% damage and are affected by the spell multiplier(so a Normal-speed weapon has those actually dealing 200% damage). Plus, as mentioned, giants apparently get slayed by it.
6) The stats page lies. You don't lose 100% damage when Arrow Shield upgrades to tier 3, as these screenshots will show. I used Polar Star, which only ever deals 100 damage exactly with its hits.

They did about 2700 damage on a crit.
And now, let's just real quickly compare it to Bomb Arrow, to prove that statement 1 isn't just bluster.

7) The blindness lasts for way too long. Seemed to last for ~5 seconds when I dueled someone and got hit by it, though I didn't check the actual time. Teleport, Escape, and Spin Attack definitely don't blind for as long as Arrow Shield does, that much I'm fairly certain of, though.

All of the above reasons are why Arrow Shield needs a nerf.

 

How do you think Arrow Shield will get this nerf, without making it useless? Just curious to see what you think.

 

Reduce damage to below Bomb Arrow's, remove water damage, reduce blind length to be on par with other spells'.

 

Arrow shield can be annoying to assassins though because while the radius may be small, it often prevents me from getting close enough in vanish to spin attack.
