"Oh, sorry, Miss Sophie." Lian says, empowering Sophie.

 

I calculate an approximate size based on myself, me being six feet.

"Well, uh, yeah, I talk..."
Crystal still seems abbot surprised by her comments.

 

"Thank you."

A shadowy draconian walks up to the palace gates, holding a letter.
"Excuse me, sirs, I received a letter summoning me to the palace. I don't know why I received it now, however." She tells the guards.

 

"Show us the letter." A guard asks, holding her hand out. Her appearance is easily mistaken for a man, due to her strong looking armour.

 

About six feet wide at the base, and at least 60 feet long. With all the curves, it's hard to tell.

The draconian realizes.
"Yes, si-aah, ma'am." She catches, handing over the letter.

 

The guard opens the letter, reading what's written within.

 

"Dear Alice,
You are to appear at the palace as soon as possible. The reason will not be disclosed prior, but you will know when you hear it."
It's not signed, but it has a palace seal.

"Please tell me it's fake. Every time I'm summoned I fear I did something wrong I did not know."

 

"It has the seal, oddly unsigned though. What do you think, Ix?" The guard asks the second guard, presumably Ix, and showing him the letter.

"Looks valid enough. You're allowed in, Alice." Ix says, opening the gates to the palace for Alice.

"Haven't seen many of your kind around here," The first guard says, "Had no idea we had a Draconian Shadow in the city."

Considering the size of the big ones, I check the small ones.

"Are you, uhh... feeling better?"
Crystal asks Xelentia.

 

"Nobody takes the form of one, I guess. To each their own, no?" Alice asks, taking the letter and heading in.

They're about your size.

"Mostly. I can't see half my gold, so... I might have to crush a few imbeciles later..."

 

"Yeah, true. Only higher tier Shadows can change their form at will, though." The guard says, watching Alice enter.

There's a bit of a walk up a pathway through the palace gardens, but Alice eventually makes it to the front doors of the palace. The guards at the door, having seen Alice enter through the gates, open the large doors for her.

 

Alice bows before entering, still uneasy about the letter.

 

The guards nod, and Alice finds herself in a large entrance room. A pair of massive doors loom in front of her, guarded by guards thrice her size. There are large hallways to Alice's left and right. Alice can just about smell food coming from the right hallway, while the left hallway seems to have more Shadows walking about, attending to their duties. There are a few dips in the walls, silvery-orange interiors to them. Occasionally a Shadow or Guardian appears in the dip and walks out, or enters and disappears in a flash.

 

Alice glances around, unsure of what the letter sent here for.

 

Shadows and Guardians walk through the halls, before a more official and higher up looking Shadow walks over to Alice.

"Have you come here for a meeting with the king or queen?" The official looking Shadow asks.

 

Startled, Alice kneels, sliding the letter out in front of her.
"No, I'm afraid not. I have received a letter summoning me here, but its purpose is unknown to me."

 

The official looking Shadow takes the letter and reads it.

"Hmm, while this bears the palace's seal, it doesn't look like it was written by the king or queen. I'll have to refer this to the royal advisor, to see if he sent this letter. It's certainly odd you'd receive a letter of summoning without a clear purpose attached." The official looking Shadow says, before turning and heading through a comparatively gigantic opening in the massive doors, which is the most the large guards can open.

A short while later, the official looking Shadow returns to Alice.

"I'm not quite sure how this happened, but it appears as if you were falsely called here. None of the royalty or those with the power to have summoned you, though how the letter gained the palace seal I don't know. Since you've made the journey here, even though you weren't called, I'll be happy to provide you with anything you'd like so your trip here isn't in vain." The official lookng Shadow explains.

 

"Eh... it's fine. Being pardoned is enough... a bunch of shadows have challenged me lately. A break is... well, I'd love some sleep." Alice sighs.

 

"That's quite unfortunate to hear. Where were you challenged? We've heard rumours of a few gangs within the city, so information could help us stop them," The official looking Shadow says, "Ah, I shouldn't be so hasty to pry. We have guest bedrooms available in the palace if you'd like a peaceful rest. Follow me."

The official looking Shadow heads toward one of the palace elevators, glancing behind himself at Alice to make sure she's following.
