    Hey there!

I was wondering if there are any good starter builds for Assassin. I've always wanted to try Assassin, but didn't bother/have the time to.

Because of this, I decided to start a new Assassin class, but I'm wondering if there are any builds, that are for new Assassins. I've tried Dex/Agi with my really low level Assassin, but not quite liking the play style. However, I will give Dex/Agi a go if many people decide its a good build.
(Making a new Assassin Class btw)

    Thanks!

In my view, one should think of an endgame build before they begin, and monitor their skill points to fit that build as they level. For example for a Fire-Earth warrior, I would put points into Strength and Defense.

In this case, the typical build is Dex-Intel-Agility. We use dexterity due to Thunder being part of many of its spells and a good way to buff damage. We use Intelligence due to the high spell costs and mana regeneration required to keep up spell output in order to maximize damage. We use agility due to its complementary use to Thunder/Water and its ability to help protect oneself without high base defense. Again, skill points don't do much early game aside from allowing gear equipment, since there aren't enough for it to be substantial. Therefore, the build ultimately intends to work towards endgame.

However, there are other really great builds outside of this combination. Among these is a Melee Flameshot Hilt Build, which works really nicely in dealing dps while retaining defenses.

Tbh I have always thought of skill points as a way to support armor first and give good buffs later. Therefore it should really depend on your armor.

If you do roll Dex/Intel/Agil, a really good build to give dps and speed would utilize Raw Spell Damage rather than Percent Spell Damage, since Assassin's attacks deal in sustained rather than burst damage. For example normally multi-hit would deal 300ish per hit without a good build right? In this case if I have 1000 Raw bonus Spell Damage (which is quite easily attainable), each hit now does 1300ish damage, while if I have say 100% bonus spell damage instead(which is also attainable), I get 600 damage per hit. Since Multi-hit hits multiple times, the damage difference is astounding. Smoke bomb also deals in sustained damage, making this even more effective.

A good build utilizing Raw Spell Damage might look like this:

Whitecap Crown (from the Hive) (50 intel req.) (325 raw spell dmg) (gives 8 intel as well)
Soul Signal (40 dex, 40 intel req) (up to 325 raw spell dmg)
Dark Channeler (45 dex, 45 intel req) (up to 390 raw spell dmg) (2/4 mana regen)
Memento (50 intel) (up to 215 raw spell dmg) (4/4 mana regen)

2x Concentration or Raindrop (2/4 mana regen per ring)
Nebulous (10 sp in each element req) (some more raw spell dmg)
Willpower (2/4 more mana regen, negative defenses covered by nebulous as well)

Slider (up to 52% ws) (no sp req)

So right now to equip your gear, you need 10/45/50/10/10, but you are probably wondering: If Slider gives -21 to -39 dexterity, does that mean I shouldn't use it? The answer is you should still use it. This is because skill points from weapons only affect the actual buffs from the skill points, they don't affect the amount you actually have. However a consequence of this is that you will only apply 45 skill points on dexterity.

You have 73 bonus skill points to use. Once you wear your armor (including skill point buffs from Whitecap Crown), you should have 10/45/58/10/10. You will want to put points onto agility and intelligence. (Don't put ANYMORE points onto dexterity, since a bunch of their buffs will be negated by Slider, which reduces the buffs from dexterity but not the physical amount). You should put in 10 more points into intelligence and 58 more into agility, giving you 10/45/68/10/68 with 5 skill points to spare. At 68 skill points, Intelligence halves mana cost, and Agility dodges attacks 50% of the time. Based on this, you should put in 10/45/60/10/68 skill points before wearing armor; after you wear armor, you should have 10/45/68/10/68 skill points. You will have 5 extra skill points that you can do whatever with.

And that's how you ought to apply your skill points, simply apply points until you get those numbers.

Oh and if you want to use Gaea-Hewn Boots instead of Memento for positive defense instead of mana, use 33/45/60/33/27 before wearing armor

That's not how raw spell works, as far as I know. It's just visually glitchy.

    Here's a helpful explanation.

I can warmly recommend agi-dex-int assassin. Distribute your skill points (this is the level 100 config you want to end up with) like you have around 30-68-100
