Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Eve touches the screen for a while, rewinding to a very early point in time.

"Now, Eve, the best places to cut are here, here and here." I say, as I demonstrate how to torture someone in front of Eve in what appears to be a similar room to the room Sophie is in, though much larger. The person I demonstrate on screams in pain through a gag as I cut them apart. The video fast forwards through various people, each one dying in horrible ways, until Eve starts killing some herself and being praised.

 

"I'm sorry..." She utters, still weak. "Can't... c-can't even help... after y-you lost... ugh... h-humilating..."

Sophie hurls.

 

Eve desperately tries to protect her drawings of Stephanie, though without her armoured body, the most she can do is grab them off the table and turn away with them.

"S-Sorry..." Eve apologises tearfully.

 

"Don't worry about it."
I say, but I sound like I don't mean it.
"Just... you need some rest."

 

"I didn't mean to... I... I hope he never gets to any of my other siblings..." She gags before running out.

"Doesn't... make this... less humiliating..."

 

Eve sighs, cleaning up the puke.

The door slides open for Sophie, most of the people in the robotics lab not paying her much attention.

 

"It'll make your fatigue less, though."
I argue.

 

She just hurties back to Lian, pale.
"We're l-leaving."

"Don't care..."

 

"You shouldn't hurt yourself over a defeat. It happens."
I seem to think about something specific after I make this comment.

 

"Where to? Outside of the palace?" Lian asks.

 

"I am a goddess... nobody r-respects weak g-gods..."

"Never coming back." Sophie utters, trembling.

 

"Are you sure? Commander Sophie, you look a little pale, are you feeling alright?" Lian asks, concerned.

 

"No, I'll explain back on Selene." She mumbles.

 

"Then invite them to prove that they're better. But if you don't rest, you're not going to be powerful enough anyways."
I persist.
"Seriously. Rest."

 

"Oh, uh, very well." Lian says, turning the dials.

Strangely, upon turning the dials to the portal rooms code, nothing happens.

"Hm? This isn't right." Lian says.

Lian tries again a couple of times, before trying a few more combinations. Eventually, one works, and the pair are transported to a hallway, a corner to the left and doorway on the right.

"How odd. This certainly shouldn't have happened." Lian says, confused.

There's a strange slapping sort of sound coming from the corner.

 

"...Fine."

Sophie cloaks.
"What's going on?!"

 

"I-I'm not sure. It's like the palace is on lockdown or something." Lian says, trying to get the elevator to work.

The slapping sound grows louder, before a barely-clothed Abigail sprints round the corner, still wearing the clothing from the vat. She leaves a slight trail of the liquid the vats contain in her wake as she sprints down the hallway to the door, trying to open it as guards quickly sprint round the corner.

"STOP!" They shout after Abigail as she tries melting the door's lock.

 

Sophie ties Abigail up with spectral threads, hiding herself.

 

Abigail struggles, trying to burn her way out before the guards finally catch her, putting a needle in her neck and injecting her with a strange liquid.

"NO!!! NO!!! LET Me...go-uuugh..." Abigail cries, her struggles slowing, before falling unconscious.

"Shh, shh shh, lets get you back to your friends." The guard says, picking Abigail up and throwing her over his shoulder, carrying her away.

"How'd she even break out?" One of the other guards asks.

"She woke up, somehow, and melted her way out. Must've been a problem with the..." The guard's voice fades away as he turns the corner and leaves.


The elevator dings behind Sophie.

"Ah, it looks like the elevators are working again. To the portal room, correct?" Lian asks.

 

"Back to the lab." Sophie whispers from above Lian.
