"Sweet Tenebrae..." Lian mutters, almost paralysed with the shock of the realisation, "Those poor souls..."

 

"I'm surprised the queen even has a chance. Ruby doesn't usually leave survivors."

 

"A lot of us are, and we're thankful she managed to take the attack, but...such a fate for the elites, it seems almost cruel." Lian says, still shocked.

 

"I dunno why they aimed to capture, not kill... well, what's past is past."

 

"I have establiahed my neutrality in the matter. I have no reason to fight."

 

"I mean, wouldn't you get hit in the crossfire?"

 

"Why would they kill their own soldiers?" Lian asks, confusion breaking his shock, "I'm just surprised they'd leave them in those tubes, instead of seeking help from the palace's medical ward."

 

"I am immune to hypnofire. I shall just fly up when the battle recommences"

 

"That's a good point."

 

"No, the draconians. Their orders were to capture, but... neither commander nor Xlentia gave it."

 

"Are you able to use magic other than summoning things?"

 

"Oh, sorry for misunderstanding you, Commander Sophie. Perhaps they were attempting to capture the elites for their power?" Lian asks.

 

"Unimportant."
The thing says to Cecil, before turning to the god.
"My point exactly."

The thing takes a good look at Xelentia.

 

"She better stays asleep."

 

"She's regenerating by herself."
I comment.
"It's not if she wakes up, it's when."

 

"No, the elites would have been equally matched. Capture would be tactically pointless..."
Sophie pauses.
"No, I just can't wrap my head around it."

Her tentacles are now glowing faintly, a slight pink tinge over a blue one.
Her breathing begins to be noticeable in her body movement.

 

"Maybe it would be to send a message? Capture the king's elites, perhaps even torture them, to get to him." Lian suggests.

 

"No, if they wanted to get to him, they'd kill his form or Ihra."
