Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Sapphire silently heads down the hall, stealth of little concern to her.

 

"Thanks!"
I say, sending them off.
"Say, about dying..."
I start saying to the thing.
"I say a draconian having some trouble when I was searching. You said you could heal, right?"
"That I can. I'll go help them. You stay here."
"Alright."
I say, going over to check on Xelentia's status, while the thing opens the doors and races along the hallway.

 

Upon exiting the doors at the end of the hall, Sapphire is confronted by the massive courtyard. It's much harder to see than it was when she first entered, the courtyard almost pitch black. Sapphire can just about make out the palace next to her, and the areas where the Shadows, and further herself, came through in the distance.

 

Xlentia seems to be breathing again, though her eyes are still a mess.
At this rate of healing, it won't be too long until she recovers... and by that, we're assuming a day or two isn't long.

She immediately looks for the spectral residue on the ground from her feet and spends the night trying to find her mask.

To any passersby or guards, she looks like an awkward floating head moving across the ground.

 

It takes a very long time, the close to pitch-blackness of the night hardly helping, but by the time the dark sun begins to rise, Sapphire manages to find her mask.

In the process of looking for her mask, she freaks out a few guardians, however most the guards that check the area simply pass her off as a wandering spirit.

 

Luckly, it's not, really, for me.
I wait for the progression of the thing.

 

She immediately puts her mask back on, relieved as she stops to watch the sunrise for a moment.

...then realizes she better head back to the scientist's lab before anyone thinks there's a security breach.

Xlentia, still unmoving, suddenly shuts her eyes, which had been left open as she was defeated. She shifts slightly, but nothing more than deep groans comes out of her.

 

The dark sun seems almost prettier than the normal sun, in a gothic way. There's a slight rumble in the ground, and hundreds of Shadows begin pouring out of the army barracks, lead by what appears to be a group of generals.

 

Sapphire turns, surprised, before spending a bit more energy to improve her armor's cloaking and opts to trail them a bit.

 

"Hey, groan if you're up."
I say to Xelentia, as the changing thing that came out of Crystal enters the room.

 

Most of the Shadows line up on the courtyard, as the generals bark orders at them. They appear to just be training, large groups of Shadows either doing index-finger pressups or running long distances with their feet weighed down by extremely heavy looking boots.

"YOUR PERFORMANCE IN BATTLE WAS TERRIBLE! I'M NOT SURPRISED SO MANY OF YOU MAGGOTS DIED!" One of the generals shouts to a group of Shadows sparring dummies whilst wearing heavy gloves and using heavy looking weapons, "YOU'RE ALL GOING TO BE DOING A LOT MORE TRAINING TO MAKE UP FOR YOUR SLOPPY PERFORMANCE!"

The generals don't sound like the best people to be caught by, if Sapphire is ever seen.

 

Nothing but a twitch of a tentacle.

Sapphire slinks away, desperately hoping she isn't seen as she heads back towards any elevator.

 

A few of the soldiers dare a glance at her, but under the iron fist training of the generals, they don't do much else.

Sapphire finds the elevator back in the army barracks, most of the doors in the hall now open. The cabinet in the elevator is still open, the book of dial codes still resting within. After a long night of searching, Sapphire finds herself both very tired and hungry, though getting back to the laboratory so there isn't a panic is probably the best idea.

 

Sapphire opts to just go back to the lab, feeling a bit shaky on her feet.
To any bystander, she's just a slight distortion as she walks, completely invisible while she turns the dials.

 

Once turning the dials, she's transported back to the entrance room. The metal door to the sterilisation room senses her autobreather, sliding open for her.

 

She enters, and after going through that process, goes back to her room and quickly falls asleep on her bed.

If any tests are run on her, she'll seem close to starving.

 

A long while later, Sapphire hears her door opening. There's some slight clunking sounds near her, a metal clank against what sounds like china following it, before her door is closed again.

 

Hours later, Sapphire stirs and looks at what may have made the sounds.

 

A small table seems to have been placed by Sapphire's bed, a bowl containing a grey...substance of some sort with a spoon beside it. It appears to be very basic food for Sapphire.

 

Another basic yet foreign concept to her, she looks at it awkwardly before considering it may be the source of the odd smell that woke her up.
She gets up and leaves her room, looking for a scientist. Again.
