Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"C-curious..." Sapphire utters, losing her balance."m-my m-m-aah..." She barely eeks out before collapsing, gripping her throat.

The book has a tag.
"Deliver to Aj"

 

The guard takes immediate action, kneeling down beside Sapphire and picking her up, rushing her into the palace.

"Damn draconians, sending a victim of some disease for us to deal with." The guard mutters as he speeds into the palace.


The Shadow seems rather shocked, cutting out of the line and running toward the palace with the book.

 

"I'm gonna touch it."

She touches it.

 

The guard notices she's not breathing at all.

The book pulses again.
"From Emerald" The tag updates.

It's warm. That's it.

 

(OOC: Is the battle still going on? I had to take an exam/test.)

"Cewl."

She takes an another look around.

 

No.
Xlentia lies unconscious, and Ihra is gone.

 

The battle over, Crystal takes the chance to stop being my armor.
"That... that was a lot faster than I thought it'd be."
"Yeah. But, isn't there that guardian thing, and..."
I look around.
"Ihra's gone, too. Did she do what she wanted?"

 

Emerald pops in again.
"Still here? Thought you'd leave with the others."

 

The guard hot-foots it to an elevator. However, instead of taking Sapphire to the medical ward, he takes her to a different area.

The guard arrives in a clear white room, a metal door sealing the entrance through on the opposite side. The guard walks up to the door, placing his hand on it. After a short while, a blue aura appears around the guards hand, before the door opens into an almost identical room. The guard quickly steps through, and the door behind him closes. Sterilising gasses fill the room, cleaning both the guard and Sapphire of external disease and bacteria, before the metal door on the other side opens into a light blue laboratory full of scientists working away at various workstations with chemicals and crystals. It seems quite a few scientists are forest and death guardians, as well as a few fire guardians and the remainder Shadows. The floor makes a metal clank as the guard walks on it, though it's mostly drowned out by the communication of scientists and the sounds of their work.

"I've got a draconian that ain't breathing, I think she's got some alien disease of some sort. She needs help, immediately." The guard says loudly.

A few scientists walk over, taking Sapphire and sliding down a pair of goggles as they take her into another room on the far side of the lab, taking a right into another metal door that opens automatically. The entire lab seems well secured and airlocked. The scientists lay Sapphie on an examining table of sorts and look her over, the goggles enhancing their sight allowing them to see things the normal eye cannot. The entire room is a sterile white, the table in the centre made of metal with a soft covering. A few plain chairs rest off to the side of the table, as well as a medical box that hangs on the wall.

"How very strange. She doesn't seem to be breathing, yet she's perfectly healthy." One of the scientists says, looking Sapphire over.

"Hm. Let's get her fitted with an autobreather and see if she's alright." Another scientist says, leaving the examination room through the automatic door, his plain labcoat being lifted slightly as hew walks briskly.

A short while later, the scientist returns with a strange device. Two white pads joined in the middle are connected to an odd looking clip of sorts with a clear crystal attached to it. The scientist places the crystal and clip in Sapphire's mouth, which remains still inside, and the two white pads on her chest, before pressing a small button on the joined area of the pad. The pad sticks onto Sapphire's chest, before it causes her lungs to expand and compress. The crystal begins to glow, and starts regulating the air going to and from Sapphire's mouth. These combined, it creates a sort of faux-breathing.


The Shadow keeps running, looking at the tag. He eventually makes it to the palace, and heads inside, looking around for an elevator to take.

 

"We would, but..."
I think.
"We didn't come here to kill Xelentia..."
I look for any sign of Ihra.

 

Sapphire slowly starts breathing again, her eyes wearily opening despite her armor cloaking most of her body.

"Ugh..."


The book pulses one more time, writing appearing in the book.

"She's fine."

 

"Does anyone know what this ruby does?" She yells to anyone nearby.

 

"Xelentia? I should hope so."

 

"She's breathing. Coming to." The scientist says.

"How are you feeling?" The other scientist asks, "You appear healthy, but you weren't breathing for some reason. Do you suffer from any diseases or problems that cause that?"


The Shadow makes it to the throne room.

...To find it empty.

"What business do you have here, soldier?" A somewhat royal looking Shadow asks.

"I've received this book to give to the king. I believe it's from an ally of the fight." The Shadow explains.

"Hm. The king and queen are unable to be seen at the moment, it seems the fight you were in took a toll on them too. No matter, I shall see to it the king receives this when he is able to read it." The royal looking Shadow says.

The Shadow salutes, before walking off.

 

"That's just a marker. Ruby leaves them to retreat to... but she won't need them anymore." Emerald says.

"If she was dead, I'd kill you too."

"B-breathing? What's that?" Sapphire asks, sentence being interrupted by breaths.


The book pulses twice, seeming to demand attention.

 

"Do you not know how to breathe?" The scientist asks, puzzled.


The royal looking Shadow opens the book, looking inside.

 

"That's good." Cecil says ignoring all of the shadows.

 

"What is b-breathing?" Sapphire asks, equally puzzled.


"Twenty or more scribes requested, must be able to fluently translate... (list of 5709 languages)
...or learn some or all of them. I still expect you to keep your end of the agreement." It reads. "In return, you will be allowed to use our library freely - assuming you don't destroy more books."

"Glad she got the hell she deserved." Emerald chuckles.

 

"The act of inhaling and exhaling air into one's lungs. The autobreather is doing it for you now." The scientist says. She too seems rather puzzled that Sapphire doesn't know how to breathe.


"My my, what has he gotten himself into." The royal looking Shadow says, leaving the throne room and walking toward a nearby elevator. After turning the clicking crystal dials, the royal looking Shadow is transported to a very large library. While it isn't as large as the one in Xlentia's palace, it still holds it's fair wealth of knowledge.

"Attention, everyone. I have a request for two hundred scribes that, together, can read and write this list of five thousand seven hundred and nine different languages, or at least learn them. I would like the most multilingual of you to come to me so you may be part of an agreement the king has created with another realm." The royal looking Shadow calls out.

A mix of two hundred Shadows and Guardians gather in front of the royal looking Shadow as he quickly reads the list of languages out.

A long while later, after reading the languages out, the royal looking Shadow asks "Are all of you combined able to read and write all of those languages?" Which is met with a fairly positive response.

"Very well, you are to go to the barracks and seek transport to the area the recent battle was fought. You should be able to find your way to the recipient of this agreement from there." The royal looking Shadow says.

The group of two hundred Shadows and Guardians leave the library, progressing toward the barracks.

 

"Yup...whoever you are..."
