Any Class Elemental Defense Tier List

    Hello everybody.

    So, just like many of you, I wanna find the perfect build.
    Even if there is none.
    Shawt up.

    A big part of any build is about the elemental defense.
    Now, I don't like making any builds with any form of negative elemental defense.
    Ideally for defense we obviously want something like

    Morph-Stardust
    Gravity
    Gemini
    Statue

    Prism
    Prism
    Nebulous
    Amulet of rejuvenation

    But if I'd just give the very most elementally defensive with both amazing health and high regen.
    That'd be bland, wouldn't it?

    Now, this thread is about what I believe to be the order you should prioritize your elemental defenses.
    or well...
    In what way you should prioritize the defenses, at least.

    Earth:
    Builds using earth will most often be hard hitting melee attacks.
    Although most endgame earth weapons are super-, very- or 'just' slow.
    Most endgame builds from people who know what they're doing will use +tier attack speed with this, unless it's somebody going gravity + grimtrap or something. (Which is an amazing combo btw. Gravity + that much life steal. DEYM.)
    So you can't really just assume that it'll be slow hitting.

    Since it deals high damage on average, mid-high elemental defense is more advised on this element than it is on any other element.

    Thunder:
    Thunder is a bit of a goofball on average.
    To say the least, either an annoying goofball or an absolute god.

    This also means that your defense is either
    A: basically not gonna matter since so little damage is dealt, anyway.
    B: You're gonna need an absolute crap ton of defense in order not to die from the lucky RNG shots.

    So that's what I'm suggesting here, either have like >250(random number) elemental defense in here. Or have nearly no defense in there.

    Water:
    By far most water damage builds will use spells.
    And elemental defense is alot higher on spells than it is for melee attacks. This has probably got to do with the attack speed multiplier and the multiplier from the spell itself.
    (for example: super fast attack speed hits 4 times a second and let's say... a meteor has a spell multiplier of 450%. So if you were to have 250 elemental defense, you'd block like 4500 instead of 250 damage. This is just what I'm assuming, I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS WHY ELEMENTAL DEFENSE GETS HIGHER WITH SPELLS!)
    So I'd say that an average to low amount of defense in here will suffice.

    Fire:
    Mostly high health and defensive based.
    But there's that courage bonus...
    And than there's this flameshot hilt popularity. (I think so at least.)

    Just go for a lil' less than earth, mhmk?

    Air:
    Very few air builds are very damaging.
    And they often have very fast attack speed.
    Meaning that defense is very effective against 'em.
    And those who are, are using weapons with alot of powder slots or mythics or something like that.
    So you do not need that much air defense.
    BUT!
    If you do put alot of defense in here, it's the easiest to reduce all damage from.
    Which is funny.
    Just having some fast class circling around you, being unable to damage you.

    A tier list on what you should prioritize for positive defenses.

    1. Earth
    2. Fire
    3. Water
    4. Thunder
    5. Air
    If you feel like the rng gods from thunder are on your side.
    OR
    1. Thunder
    2. Earth
    3. Fire
    4. Water
    5. Air
    If you feel like the rng gods from thunder are on their side.


    This'll show for what elements I think it's the ABSOLUTE WORST to have negative defenses.

    1. thunder
    Hits the most often on average, so negative defenses are a definite NONO
    2. air
    Hits the second most often on average, so negative defenses are a definite NONO
    This might be worth number 1, since the defense doesn't matter all that much percentage-wise for thunder if they get a high roll.

    3. Water
    Due to the defense multiplier on spells, this isn't number one. But Every spell done to you will have a massive effect on your hp pool.
    4. Fire
    Having a firey opponent whilst having negative defenses is not as bad as for the elements above.
    5. Earth
    The damage is already high, what does a lil' extra matter?

    But in all seriousness, PLEASE try to get no negative elemental defenses. It's so god damn awful.

    Earth damage currently ignores all element defense anyways

    I seriously wonder who started this rumor. It isn't correct in any case.

    NOPE
    raw damage does, though. As does poison, as does rage.
    I believe that the rumor started because of the extra damage you get from rage. That damage does ignore defenses. And looks like earth damage

    True, but the demand for 'em is like 0.

    I got a gambler with no defenses over -100% and +400something hp for 5le.
