Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Something taps Emerald on the shoulder.

 

Emerald turns, telekinetically freezing whoever it is in place, a barrier covering her back

 

It's a present, held by a drone-propelled robotic hand.

'Open Me!' says a label on the present, along with 'We're sorry' scribbled in marker.

 

Eve points it at a once again telekinetically locked Myria, then remotely opens it.

 

Nothing happens. Seems like it was a normal present after all.

 

Emerald checks it herself from a distance, untrusting.

 

It's a rather pretty looking book, decorated with gemstones and bound by fine leather.

 

Again, Emerald opens the book remotely, checking each page in-depth, no waivering in distrust.

 

The book doesn't do anything when opened. The first page seems to be an apology for the events that have happened, then an explanation of the book and its purpose, that being to write notes that will never be forgotten, then it's source, some strange otherworldly text. Of course, then a bunch of blank pages.

 

Emerald returns you, Eve, the hand, the book, and the death guardians to the door.
"I WILL OFFER YOU ONE MORE TIME - IF I SUPPRESS YOUR POWERS, THEY CANNOT HEAL. I WILL LEAVE THAT IN PLACE OR UNDO THE SPELL. YOU ARE NOT TO DESTROY ANY OF OUR BOOKS, AND YOU ARE NOT TO TELL ME TO STOP DOING MY JOB BECAUSE YOU WANT TO PUT YOURSELF OVER ME." She booms. "MAKE YOUR DECISION NOW, AND STAY OUT OF MY LIBRARY!"

 

Ignia stands in the doorway.

"So are we bur-" I quickly cover her mouth before she can continue.

"Bur-eathing some delicious fumes at the barbecue we're going to be hosting for Emerald as an apology after this battle? Yes! Now let's quickly get out of her hair so she can be properly surprised by the lovely barbecue."

 

Emerald seems even mire irritated.
"THE LADY WILL SPEAK, OR I WILL FISH THE THOUGHT FROM HER MIND."

 

The aftermath happened. "Well, that's just great."

 

"Burning any survivors and cooking the generals, because I figured you could use the boost after fighting the infinite amounts of people here. Plus if we burn the survivors they can't be resurrected as easily." Ignia finishes, confused.

 

Emerald glares at you.
"Let's make a deal... we match innocent casualties." She growls. "If you're so intent on killing any survivors, then I need proof you understand the toll you leave us with. In turn, my library's resources are accessible to you, case you wish to study."

She slowly draws closer, less hostile.
"Furthermore, no more destroying books. They're all copied by hand. I don't have many scribes." She sighs.

 

"No, I meant hostile survivors of our attacks. Not innocents." Ignia says, glancing past Emerald.

 

Emerald checks her back, expecting an attack at any moment.
"Did your king not tell you how to break the mind control?" She asks, wary.

 

I watch the conversation.

 

"Yeah, but we don't really have the ability to heal and save them from death." Ignia says flatly, still looking past Emerald.

 

"Who said I'd make you heal them? You have a daunting task at hand. I have a job, half of it you're keeping me from. Now, Aj, you heard my deal. Take it or leave it."
