Cinfras - The Forgotten Hub City

Fun fact: It was actually intentional not to make Cinfras a "true" hub city because we didn't want to split the small server player base (which stands only at 60 people) between two cities.

Cinfras is of course supposed to represent something similar to Detlas, as it is important within Gavel lore. However, it was supposed to be progressed through like any other because at the end of the day, we didn't want people to stop using Detlas when they became a little higher level.

Just for clarification.. you mean max amount of ppl per server right? ._____. (Wasnt it for a while at 100 slots per world? XD)

you mean the 60 per world part orrrr the 100 per world part? (Cus i think over all the playerbase did increase quite a bit didnt it? ._. At least compared to shortly before gavel update)

as grian said above, they were hoping for a server cap increase, but that didn't happen. i don't ever recall the player cap being 100

I think i remember about 2015... you sure it was abaolutely never 100 in 2016 though? Or at the very least never higher than 60? Because i remember that i was a bit surprised when i saw a number higher than 60 (i think it was 100 ._. ) i might be imagining things though xD

In the early days of Gavel release, we are told that Cinfras (the level 75 big city in the middle of gavel fyi not that random npc on dead island), is the hub city of gavel, the "Detlas of Gavel", and with that the player base did follow up with some trading and socialising actions going on there. However Cinfras has soon become forgotten and the player base have moved to our original trading hub city Detlas.

So basically today I'm gonna talk about why the game failed to make Cinfras a hub city

1- Map Design <- Biggest Problem
The progressive map design in Gavel that every staff members are proud of are the most fatal flaw in this problem. The gavel map is designed to be progressive with minimal backtracking as possible from west to east, while this sounds cool in a linear game this is also the reason why no one stays in Cinfras. To illustrate this we can compare Gavel with Wynn (provence), in the progression from level 1-75, player are designed to repeatedly travel through Detlas, from Ragni to Detlas and then you go North for Nemract for a few levels, then go East for Almuj for a few levels, then head South for Nesaak for a few levels and stuff, you repeatedly go through Detlas, and this is why people can meet different people from different level range in Detlas and why it is a successful hub city. However in Gavel you're basically keep going East, once you get pass the quests in Cinfras there are no reason for you to head back there (beside the occasional trading that doesn't even happen anymore). This also limit the player interactions as all the players you'll meet in Gavel are just close to your level range, no occasional high level players for you to ask for tips and no noobs for you to show off. All of this is happening back on Detlas, and heres the second reason.

2- Cool Stuff for You to Jump <- funny stuff
If you've been to some certain other mini game server that rhymes with MineFlex, you'll notice the game lobby for every mini game have a square with stairs around that players just can't help but to run around on it while waiting for another blood bath begins. We just wants to do some mindless stuff to keep our brain active while we're waiting for another excitement. The same goes for Detlas that the pillars, the tents, the rooftops near the bank keep the player busy while chatting with friends and stuff. However in Cinfras its always awkward to socialise there (if anyone remember), standing in the middle square with nothing to jump on.

Future and Onward
Idk if the hub city thing is designed on purpose since day 1 but hey its there, but after all these time we can actually see a few things that can improve in creating a better version of Detlas/hub city. Such as a pvp arena designed place close by and maybe more place nearby to jump on(?)

While Wynn is for level 1-75, Gavel is for level 40-100. Both Provence are designed for huge level range content, and available to largest player base. Since Cinfras couldn't beat Detlas, is there another chance to create a better hub city? answer is probably not. Since Corkus is already made and probably not gonna implement any of the above ideas, and its for level 80-100, Fruma is rumour to be 60 or above but thats probably coming on June 2020 and Dern won't be coming out after we all have kids (but hey at least our kids can play in dern i heard its a warm and fun place), so na the chance of a better Detlas is gone.

speaking of which, do you think the player cap will ever increase? I like crowded servers (just not the lag that it brings, i guess that's the problem. :/ )

I don't really agree with this point. At the item traders there are some nice parkourin' to do and the roads in Cinfras are wide, a lot of space to run around on (Which is fun if you're an Air Archer (Aircher :3))

Overall it's a good thread with a lot of thought in it! (Great way of procrastinating, too :*)
