Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Indeed it does."
I say, letting Iruk talk to Abigail.

 

"We need two elements to weaken the barrier. You free to help?" Iruk asks.

There are hundreds of draconians reading, none of them armed and pretty much all of them glancing up nervously or glaring at the death guardians.

Half of them just dispell, pained screams emanating from their point of death. Any survivors spread out to make themselves harder to kill en masse, unloading a barrage of spectral projectiles.

"Don't... say... anything... get a book and read... rumor has it they kill anyone they're suspicious of."

Nobody responds. You're only met with glances.

 

"Fire and explosives?" Abigail asks, smiling, tossing and catching a cherry bomb.


The ones glaring find themselves getting drowsier, the weaker or older ones coming close to passing out as what life energy they have is drained from them.

"What could that girl be on about with this library nonsense?" Mortimer asks, shaking his head.

"I suggest we interrogate whoever is here with the threat of death. See if you can find any information on the whereabouts of the captains, weaknesses of Xlentia or anything that'll give us the upper hand." Myria says.

Mortimer nods, and the pair start interrogating members of the library, not afraid to show off their sharp scythe's to the member's throats, especially if they don't co-operate.


Eve starts throwing up glowing grenades to me as she rides around the survivors, trying to herd them like sheep into one spot. I bat the grenades toward the survivors, which implode shortly after landing to drag victims toward it before exploding out ward in a powerful energy blast.

 

"I've got water, and fire isn't water. What say we make some progress?" Iruk offers, grinning.

About two thirds of the draconians just crumple on the spot. The rest look in fear, until you find one who's particularly helpful.
"P-please, don't kill father... the head librarian is in the Archives, top floor. The other commander usually hides out with Xlentia, but she never stays in one place long..." They stammer, frantically checking for a pulse from who Myria presumes to be their father.

After a few deaths, the rest of the spirits scatter through the walls, one heading towards the entrance with a dagger in hand.

 

Abigail finger guns the barrier, and a precise beam of heat jets from the end of her index finger onto the barrier.


Myria simply leaves, heading towards any sort of transportation for elevation to the next floor. The draconian's father is alive, albeit weakened.


The spirit doesn't go unnoticed by Eve, and she throws a grenade in front of her shotgun before blasting it incredibly fast toward the spirit, the resulting implosion and explosion far more dangerous and unstable.

 

Combined with Iruk's water and Ruby's empowerment, the barrier starts to melt from the liquid fire.
"How long can you maintain this?" Iruk asks off to the side.

After about thirty flights of stairs and a good half mile walk down a hallway, Myria reaches the Archivist's room.

This kills the spirit and breaks down a wall to a small lab, the workers shocked as beakers of water across the room shatter from the shockwave.

 

"Quite a bit. Ignia taught me how to control my fire and how much energy I use." Abigail replies.


Myria kicks through the door, scythe ready.


Eve smirks, before riding into the lab, pointing her shotgun at the workers. I stand on the back of Eve's motorcycle, eyeing the workers.

 

"This is going to take a little while, so keep it coming..."

An emerald-scaled draconian sorts through an impossibly dense shelf of papers, files, and artifacts.
"Good day, Miss Myria. I hope the seige is coming along well." They say kindly, absorbed in their work.

They kneel, hands on their heads.
Closer inspection shows they're looking for an antidote for one of the native draconian toxic plants.

 

Abigail keeps up the flame, but she seems to get a little bit bored after a while.


"Where are the captains, and what are Xlentia's weaknesses?" Myria asks, serious.


Eve and I grab a few samples of the plant before riding back out and through the halls.

 

The barrier now has a hole in it you can pass through if you choose.
"Come on. A few more repetetive massacres amd we'll be knocking on Xlentia's door." Iruk urges.

"I am Commander Emerald, the archivist. Xlentia's only weakness is Bane, but that foul dagger has long since been destroyed."

There aren't any samples remaining. The shockwave busted every sample in the room.

 

Abigail keeps the flame up for a bit longer before darting through.


"Anything else you think I might find useful in this battle?" Myria asks, hands ready on scythe.


Eve and I look around for any textbooks or information on the plant, and if so take it and ride out, otherwise simply ride out.

 

Iruk follows suit, spraying scalding water down to disorient the soldiers.

"Not particularly. Good luck, Miss Myria."

Back to the battlefield, there's another mechanized beast, this one a serpent.

 

Abigail lets off some of her explosives, varying in damage.


Myria heads to the door, before blocking it. "And what exactly is preventing me from killing you to restore power to my allies?" Myria asks, raising an eyebrow.


Eve heads straight for it, before swerving around and shooting it from the side with a shotgun blast.

 

Bolts heading for Abigail bounce off Iruk, who moved to intercept.
"Halfway done with this regiment." Iruk shouts.

Myria is telekinetically overpowered, held above a thirty story drop to the ground floor.
"Mostly the fact I don't take kindly to people intending to kill me. Also, I'm the reason they cannot heal. I was not aware there were side effects on your party."

The energy just reflects off its scales as it snarls at Eve.

 

Abigail fires a beam of fire as she did with the barrier, but spins around attempting to hit as many draconians as she can.


Myria doesn't seem even the slightest bit scared. She puts her hand to her mouth before whistling four, clear tones.


Eve throws me a grenade which I bat back at it as the pair of us drive away and turn for a second attack.

 

The screams are comparably earsplitting to a shadow torture session.

Emerald puts Myria back on the ground.
"Your call. They keep coming, or you have your power. Just don't make me polish my scales again, that set me back a few days." She complains.

The implosion isn't strong enough to affect it, but the explosion pushes it off-course.
It seems angrier now.

 

Abigail stops the fire for a bit to quickly remove any Iruk might have accidentally caught in her cautious roast.


Myria just smirks, like a battle's already been won.


Eve glances back at me, and I nod. She throws me three grenades, which I bat at the serpent before the pair of us ride away, taunting it.

 

Seems he was just taking arrows.
"You don't look fond of becoming a pincushion."

Enerald doesn't glance back.
"Don't sick your partner on me. You either want my help or you don't."

The serpent, knocked back, seems extremely ticked. It lets out another roar before charging towards the pair.

 

"I have armour." Abigail says, patting her breastplate proudly.


"And what help do you offer? It seems the greatest boon you could grant us would be through death." Myria says calmly.


Eve revs her engine, increasing her speed as she drives away from the serpent.

 

"Spectral arrows ignore that."

"I told you, I'm suppressing their ability to heal or clone entirely."

The serpent goes faster, matching speed.
