Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Oh crap." Cecil mumbles, with fear in her voice. "Ok...That's fine."

 

"Very well." I say, and write things down in my journal.

"Crystal, are you coming with us?"

 

Eve looks up, but goes back to her game of chess.

I appear next to Milla, "Don't even know why I'm dragging you around at this point. Go on, run off into the void or whatever you want." I say, uncaring.


"Feeling alright?" Artemis asks, concerned.

 

Milla takes a moment to catch her breath, filling her wounds with the same yellow threads.
"I don't know whether to thank you or hate you for making me run twice the distance." She pants.


"Hell no, but at least I've got some things to tell you..."
Ihra slowly gets up, frustrated.
"You all let me down. I don't know how else to say it. You're great friends, but when they put barriers up to slow you down, you just sit out here?! They're trying to slow you down, but you're stopping yourselves! Xlentia shattered my ascension, and if it happens again, I might be dead. Now, I'll reiterate; I need you to distract Xlentia so I don't die and I can turn her to our side. I need time to ascend, then I can aid you in your fight, but I can't free her or help you if I'm dead. Now, I'm going to go dormant again. I can stop her from erasing Artemis, her channeling is about 3 quarters complete, but once I do that, I need you to get back on your feet and force her to stop trying to erase the dimension I'm ascending in."

Ihra takes a breath, then crumples to the ground, gripping her snout and shaking her head.
"Gah... I'm sorry, I know this is a lot to ask for..."

"No, I need to... handle something so you don't suddenly stop existing." She utters.

"Alright. After that speech, I should really start pulling my weight."

Cecil goes to the library with Terrae to talk to a draconian.

 

"Shit." I say to Iruk.
"Know a way past?" I ask.

Crystal just sticks by Ihra's side.

 

Most of the group sigh, getting up to head out back to the palace. Abigail and Ignia grab some explosives and fly off, and Myria and Mortimer head back to the palace. Eve gets back onto her motorcycle and gestures for me to get on. I sit on the back of Eve's motorcycle and ride off, the pair of us travelling quickly. Eve prepares her shotgun and I hold Shadow Katana ready as we head into the palace and take a right.

 

"Check the library!" Ihra shouts after you.


The spirits are there, barrier still up. They look at Eve strangely, sizing her up.

Eve, being a super-advanced robot, notices that something's watching. Not something, many things. Scans show... most of the palace is alive, a tangle of creatures nervously watching the battle.

"Only know through." He mumbles.

A draconian seems to be a bit welcoming.
"Are you taking refuge from the siege as well?" They ask, glancing up from their book.

 

"Yes. The savages are at the right pathway, and the barrier is up. Do you know how we can past through it?" Cecil tries to put up an act.

 

The draconian seems cross.
"We aren't savages, and I'm not going to tell you how to kill my brethren. Makes it sound like you're lying to me off the bat."

 

"Not your people. The guys who invaded the palace, that's doing absolutely nothing at the moment."

 

"I'll take it. What'd you got?"

 

"Them? For now, we have people trying to keep them from the library. We actually managed to work a deal with the Hive Master. He thinks he has those invaders under control, so he's letting the liberated minds educate themselves here. Anything you can do to make them worry about our military units is a useful thing."

"Who stays, who get reinforcements?"

 

Eve plows through the crowds as I slice anyone I can. As soon as Eve gets close to the barrier, she fires her shotgun, releasing a massive blast of energy directly onto the barrier.

Myria and Mortimer head straight, going into the library after what Ihra said.

Abigail and Ignia fly around, checking for any signs of Xlentia.

 

Iruk glances back, seeing Abigail.
"Well, that settles that."

No signs, but Iruk signals Abigail to come over to the left.

The death guardians can see Cecil talking to an unarmed draconian over a book. Other than that, the place is utterly massive, and the only suspicious thing is the absence of the head librarian.

After the survivors retreat behind the barrier, they rush backwards as fast as they can, Eve's energy shotgun knocking it out in a single blow.
However, the Ethereals are now behind you and what looks to be a further reinforced barrier.

 

Abigail flies over, curious.

Myria and Mortimer start searching the library.

Eve unloads a blast behind her, before reloading her shotgun and swerving back on herself, before heading straight toward the ethereals. Eve unloads shotgun blasts and I spin Shadow Katana as the pair of us collide with the ethereals.

 

"Who happens to be the librarian here?" I ask.

 

"And they're here."
