Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"You realize that she knows her weak points? I doubt she'll let them be wounded easily."

Ihra pauses.
"How well-known are shadows?"

 

"In modern day? A rumour, a bed-time story told to naughty children so they behave. We still exist, and we still reap, but people are so scared to face the reality that shadowy demons exist in their world they'd rather brush it under the covers," I say, "At least to humans, that is. We're still known to magic users, guardians and the like."

 

"And I doubt that the all-powerful dragon doesn't have eyes the size of ten me's. I get what you're getting at, I really do, but it'd be good to aim for the eyes anyways to create more of a flurry of blindness attack."

 

"I was wondering if Ruby has had her eye on you longer than it seems, if draconians knew. She always seems to just talk mostly to you."

"Fair point. Just, don't test to see if the legend is true. I'll explain later if needed."

 

"Welp, the A-Train has left the station with the...uh, other A-Train. I guess? I don't know where I'm going with this analogy but I will say if she wanted to date me she missed her chance." I say, getting confused and attempting to recover.

 

"Legend? Well, alright, if you want to save it."

 

"We'll see how persistent she is." Ihra sighs.

"Just until we land."

 

"Good. I'm excited to hear about this 'legend', especially if we might be actively effecting it."

 

"I'll see if I can arrange something to let her down nicely if she's deeply in love." I say, shrugging.

 

"Let me keep it short; we wake the creature sealed within Xlentia's palace, we definitely lose the fight." Iruk says, starting his descent.

"Just... don't kill her? She's still a strong ally..." Ihra asks.

 

"I was more thinking along the lines of take her out for a nice meal and let her down then. We don't get too romantic and we come out mostly unhurt," I say, before sighing, "Who am I kidding, I'm just trying to distract myself from the fact we're about to fight Xlentia..."

 

"On the bright side, you'll have an I-Owe-U from a colossal deity." Ihra says, trying to smile.

 

"What?" I ask, confused.

 

"Oh, shit."
Pause.
"Who's to say this thing isn't Xelentia's pet already?"

 

"We win, Xlentia owes you a favor. Isn't that a good thing?" Ihra asks.

"If it was her pet, then she had to slay it to assert her control in the Void. If it wakes up, the legend says she'll be devoured with the rest of the dimension."

 

"And a load of firecrackers and some stomping can wake that thing?"

 

I think for a bit.

"Can it be not having you die? As I remember, you and Xlentia means you sort of die." I ask.

 

"The more damage done to the palace, the weaker the seal on that damn thing gets. So we've got to be precise, or at least somewhat." Iruk says, flustered.
"I just hope the legend isn't true."

Ihra hesitates, completely dropping her cheery demeanor.
"Well... no. But, I... I can stay with mother then, can't I? We can finally have a home somewhere..." She sighs.

 

"Well, if it is true, it's some pretty damn smart insurance by Xelentia. Just hope and pray, I guess."

 

"Tch, no kidding." He mumbles.
