What Do You Think Mob Totems Should Look Like?

So everyone, I'm making art for the Content Contest, and I have no idea what a good mob totem would look like.
I mean, there isn't anything wrong with a cheese looking block with a timer, but this needs to look better (and I suck at drawing cheese).
GIMME SOME IDEAS!

In 1.9+ the totems look like actual totem poles, sorry I don't have any pictures at hand.

 

Here is an example of one ingame, taken from the wiki page. This textured version is only available on versions higher than 1.9, so if you are in 1.8 it looks like a floating sponge.

 

Come to think of it, the totem looks like a wooden fusion between the ender dragon, a spider, a zombie, and a creeper.

 

Or a mutated platypus

I think the totems should just look like majestic floating sponges.
