[rp] Small Beginnings - [9/9] Players - Applications Closed

I don't sleep yet, since I'm a bit wary of him.

Right, suspicious figure approaching in the middle of the night.

I sleep with one eye open.

 

Samuel smiles.
"It's fine. I have a friend who stutters."
He sits down next to a large rock, and leans back.

Florfy and Damien (Damien's POV)

You open your eyes. The man is still sitting there, leaning on the rock. He's drooling. Gross. You yawn and stand up. You go to Kazuki and shake his shoulder. He wakes immediately.
"I see our friend hasn't tried anything," he remarks dryly.
"Yeah," you agree.
You walk over to Samuel and shake him on the shoulder.
"Wh-wha?" He says, sleepily.
"Wake up," you say. "Breakfast."
Samuel blinks.
"Right. Breakfast." He rubs his eyes and frowns, looking past you.
You follow his gaze.
The messenger, probably still drunk from last night. You look over at Kazuki.
"Wake him?"
Kazuki raises his eyebrows. "Probably not. We'll save some breakfast for him."
You hear a yawning noise. You spin around and see Geoffry trying to stand up. He yawns again.
"Morning? So soon?" He exclaims sleepily. "Oh well..."
You start rummaging around in the messenger's pack for food. You find some salted meats, bread, a pot, and some hard - boiled eggs.
Geoffry looks down on the meager food and starts to prepare it.
"Eggs on toast, eggs on toast," you hear him muttering.
A few minutes later, breakfast is ready.
You chow down, downing the whole meal in 2 minutes.
"Well," Samuel says with a mouthful of food. "Better wake him." He gestures to the messenger.


1 hour later...
The messenger stumbles along, barely managing to keep up.
You sigh. This is going to be a long day.

(I actually get anxious talking to people irl and I think I might even stutter at times. I know how Kazuki feels >.<)

Yeah... Apparently I straight-up genetically inherited social anxiety from my mother, and apparently have a few symptoms that PTSD causes regarding social things due to bad experiences with people, along with a social disorder. RIP me.

 

I didn't even know you could inherit things like that.
But yeah. RIP you.
At least you can't stutter when writing to someone on an online forum ^^ (*cough cough* unless you make a character who is called Kazuki)

Kazuki's POV

"Th-this could t-take a while. S-so, y-your name w-was Samuel, r-right?"
"Yeah," he says. "What's yours?"
You realize with a start that you haven't told him your names yet.
"Er.. I-I'm Kazuki.. This is D-Damien, and.. T-this is.. Geoffry. W-we don't k-know who the messenger is.."
Samuel smiles.
"Nice to meet you." He shakes your hand, Damien's, Geoffry's, and the messenger's.
"You're all adventurers?" He asks.
"Er.. I am.. b-but I'm not e-entirely sure if Damien o-or.. um, Geoffry is."
"I see. Well, I'll just have to ask them myself." He smiles again.
He walks off, talking to Damien.
You frown, and wipe your brow. Sweat runs off of your forehead. It's incredibly hot... You notice Damien wiping his brow off, too.
Samuel's armor glistens in the sun. How can he wear that in this heat?
"Er.. S-Samuel.. Your armor s-seems strange... I-It's really hot o-out.. but you're... you're wearing a-armor!"
"Oh." Samuel laughs. "It's kind of a family heirloom.. kinda. See, the armor was wrought during the fifth age! It was enchanted, too, so I don't get too hot or cold." He smiles sheepishly. "I really didn't mean to people about this.. but I guess it had to be told eventually."
"The fifth age, huh?" Geoffry asks.
"Yup."
"Hm." Geoffry looks at Samuel. "I see."

 

"I wonder what the fifth age is... But it's so hot out... Never been good with heat," I think to myself. "W-we should p-probably get going... I-i-i don't really want to st-stand in this heat a... a minute longer th-than I have t-too..."

 

Damien nods vigorously.
Geoffry seems to know a bit about the fifth age.

Right, time to do the thing that I've put off for awhile...
The choosing of the last player to enter the rp!

This is kind of a standoff thing - I'll put my cons (yes only cons) under each application, and give each applicant 3 days to reply with changes (if they wish to. If they do not wish to change their application, then they should tell me. Why am I writing this in 3rd person?)

Let's begin.

Cons:

• Just helping in the first corrupted siege shouldn't be enough to be promoted to the rank of General - the highest rank in the army.
• You said he was "Smart, cunning, calculating." Anything about things like... oh idk.. charisma? Is he likable?
• All your spells are focused on light, and light energy. A common (or high ability) soldier of Wynn shouldn't have power like that. It would only make sense to get "light" power from the Realm of Light or some other holy place. There is no such holy place in Wynn, your character can't have been to Gavel, he's not from Fruma and Dern is just out of the question.
• Your spells are a bit OP. Now, the second one sounds like a mashup of bash/uppercut, which I'm mostly cool with. It could use a little toning down, but I'm not going to talk about that now. It also uses this light energy. The first one could just be knockback... As for the third one, lightning is a bit OP, saying you're smiting something/someone is a bit presumptious - this assumes that you have the gods on your side, and "reach down from the heavens," also implies that you have some experience with the gods. But the thing that would create light energy is Orphion, who got corrupted through the succoru parasites 13 years ago.
• You never specify when Thengel can use "The Living Mountain."

Cons:

• A bit too old. According to the time frame that I'm using, Frederick would be 34 when the corruption hit. That is altogether too old to join the army, in my opinion (if he joined right after the corruption. If he joined before, then that wouldn't be a problem - so basically you need to say when Frederick joined the army).
• We already have someone who is a... psuedo-corrupted (Somnum). While this isn't a real gripe, I'm just mentioning it. And we also have someone who is insane (Mathias. He has... eh.. an extreme form of PTSD.).
• Blade of the Red Rock seems a bit.. oh, well, like a plot device. It makes sense that a corrupted sword would further the corruption, but to have it named and everything... Anyways, I was thinking that the sword itself isn't good enough to be named (there is an air of... something - power perhaps ? around actual named weapons. Fred's blade won't have that... air), but Fred will foolishly think that it is. I think that the sword itself shouldn't be unsettleing, but what makes it unsetteling is the fact the people's subconcious will recognize the corrupted blade... being carried by a human. That is what makes the blade - and you - unsetteling. And the fact that you're insane.
• For Fred's "Cleanse" spell, you'd have to tell me what the pros and cons are. "Its benefits are...to say the least, outweighed by the cons." That's a bit... uh.. counter-intuitive, I'd say. I don't have an issue with it, but you'd just have to tell me.
• As for the spells, I'm mostly cool with them. For his vision ability, I think this is a bit op... perhaps it only comes.. say.. idk when there's a blue moon or when a specific corrupted comes out into the province of Wynn. The super speed thing I'm cool with, basically. "Unlocking" it later on seems to be a good idea.

Cons:

• Your backstory sucks. First of all, how is a mere 15-year-old and member of an elite army? And how is that army in a "far off land??" First, there is no far-off-land, and second... fucking 15 years old. How'd he get his 3 bffs? How'd he go insane?
• Daggers. Cannot. Be. Summoned. He's not a mage, is he? The daggers aren't magic, are they?
• How strong is the poison?
• For vanish... why is it not even as good as t1 vanish in-game? I would buff it to t1 vanish.
• Illusion is.. telepathy... How'd Varushi learn telepathy? I don't know of anyone in the world who can do that.
