Hello everyone. This is my first time on the Wynncraft server in just over a year. I have seen that a lot has been updated. I have, for the most part, gotten a grasp on all the updates. I am just confused on what the elements (thunder, fire, air, earth, and water) do. And I am also confused on what powders do, and how to use them. If someone could anwser this question, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your help.

Elemental damage is damage that is more easily manipulated.
Let's say you have a weapon with water damage. You go over to a big lake, and there are some mobs there... you notice that these guys, below their names, show defense to water. Hitting these guys with your weapon will do less damage than usual. Alternatively, you could find something like a fire mob that is weak to water, and you'll do some extra damage to them. Each element is associated with a skill point, so you might require Intelligence (Int = Water) to use it. Intelligence will also increase the water damage you do, as well as its other effects. Multiply this by all 5 elements, and you suddenly have a customizable and expansive system to use, much better than the simplicity of Pre-Gavel.

Powders were added more recently and are a way to customize your gear more. Placing a fire powder on a weapon will convert some neutral damage (if any) to fire and add some raw fire damage. However many [Slots] the gear has, is how many powders you can put on it. Using this, you can change your weapon to be better and of the element(s) of your choice. Alternatively, you may place it on armor and have it give you more defense to that element (by the way: mobs have elemental damage too!).
Putting 2 same element powders of Tier 4 or more on gear will give it a "special". On weapons, this is something you charge up with melee and will help you do more damage. On armor, this will give you kind of a passive skill, so you do more damage while close to mobs or something like that.

Powders: There is a nifty little thing to help you along with powders, called the powder manuals, I put together all of them, for convenience, which you can read Here

Elements: Elements are less simple than powders, there are five elements, air, fire, earth, water, and Thunder.
Elements each have a opposite, such as Fire weapons cause more damage on water creatures, and vice versa. You can view what the weaknesses of mobs are below there names (it is written)
there are many builds with focuses of certain Elements.
And there is also a quest to learn about Elements: Here

    haha
    no

The elements are in order: Earth, Thunder, Water, Fire, Air, and then it circles back to Earth, at least that's how I think of it.
As a general rule, strengths and weaknesses also go that way; Earth beats Thunder, Thunder beats Water, etc
It also makes sense logically; water conducts electricity well, and puts out fires. So, it goes that water damage won't do much on a Thunder mob but will wreck a fire mob.

Elemental stuff is pretty much as has been explained. It adds more variation to damage infliction and resistance. Some weapons might do lots of one or two elemental damage types. Against critters with a weakness to either element, they're gonna die faster. But against critters with a defense against them, will not go down so easily.

For weapons, Powders add damage of thier element to your weapon and will convert a percentage of it's neutral damage to that element. This lets you boost and customize your weapon to different targets. Tier 4+ powders, if added in a pair add an additional effect that can be charged up through successful melee attacks and then set off by holding the shift key on the shot you wish to set it off with.

For armor, it adds defense to it's element to the item while weakening the defense of it's counter element. And again, T4+ powders added in pairs give an additional effect. On armor the effect is passive and will boost any damage of it's element while the required conditions apply.

In either case, no weapon or armor item can utilize more than 1 special effect.
