Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Y-yeah, I think... everything just went dark. Maybe I need to get out of the sun..." She groans wearily.

 

"It was Aj." Katie says, taking some water from the ocean and freezing it into a strange looking umbrella, before picking up some sand with it and holding it above Xephyr.

 

Xephyr pauses.
"Did... did I anger him?"

 

"He was just using you to get to Avis. I think he's worried about her shape shifting abilities." Katie explains.

 

Xephyr sighs.
"He can't do anything in a typical manner, can he?"

 

"He's from a different culture. I might do something differently to how Abigail would." Katie says, trying to be fair.

 

"Fair point. I guess I couldn't keep my thoughts to myself there..." Xephyr sighs, staring blankly towards the ocean.

 

Katie looks out to the ocean too, calmed by it.

 

"Ever been exiled? Overthrown?" Xephyr asks quietly.

 

"I've never ruled anything." Katie says calmly.

 

"If you've any imagination about you, I need something taken out of my sight. Forever."

 

"What's that?" Katie asks, curious.

 

Xephyr pulls out a staff of ice from a wisp of darkness emanating from her tome.
"Memories of troubled times. You have a lifespan to get use out of it, anyways."

 

"W-What!?" Katie exclaims, scrambling back, eyeing the ocean.

 

"I used to be somebody in my youth. Take it away from me; it's a staff that amplifies water and ice magics..." She mumbles.

 

"Well, um, I don't mean to sound rude but I don't know how much use I could get out of it. I'm already quite good with water. But...if you don't want those memories anymore, I could always look after it for you." Katie suggests, trying to sound kind.

 

"Do what you wish with it. Just... take it." Xephyr grumbles, impatient.

 

Katie reaches for the staff, hesitates momentarily, then takes it.

 

It's extremely cold, but that seems to be the only side effect.
"It'll never melt. Not even magma'll change that."

 

Katie hugs the staff, enjoying the cold aspect.

"Thank you, Xephyr," Katie says sincerely, "Maybe this can help if I ever get too warm."
