Build Dern's Gate

The reason why I decided to make it so with-stone is because its in the overworld and not in dern
The third image is looking inside the keyhole and the eye is there

The door also looks good, although I figure that Dern's gate would be run-down or at least overgrown since it's not really being used.

 

Not to be rude, but it is a bit bland. For Dern, the supposed end-all of evil, you'd think it'd have a more grand, menacing entrance.

 

On the contrary, people would want to keep it hidden, and nobody seems to know where the entrance specifically is.

 

My opinion is it would be underground, it would be massive and grand, but cunningly concealed underground.

If this is how you picture the gate of Dern.. then wow.....
The gate is very small, under detailed, and not impressive at all. From what I was able to count there's only 7 types of blocks. For the gate of dern I'd expect something much more diverse and detailed. Nice try though!

 

Nobody ever mentions Dern other than a "Far off dark land." I don't think the lack of mentioning where it is has any effect on how it would look.

The problem with keeping it hidden is that it's not theirs to hide. Look at the Nether Portal; if it could be hidden, it would be. But it's not, because clearly the dark forces surrounding that entrance are too powerful, or something of the like. If it's Dern, the source of darkness, we're talking about, I doubt that anyone could do anything other than place a powerful seal over the entrance.

While that's a possibility for this build, it doesn't look all that powerful or seal-like, plus it's not showing any signs of corruption or darkness at all.

nice i guess. could use some better detailing, but overall it could be a good gate for a castle or something
Dern is a province that is full of darkness.
I know this was a lazy/bored build, but that is besides the point.
Dern is the source of the corruption. You'd think the door or gateway to it would be huge, massively dotted with sealed dark magic.
This would be good for, like, a castle's entrance or something.
constructive critizism instead of being a little ass about it.

 

Would be okay if it was an entrance to another province (if it had more color) but Dern's character is dark and evil not casual Ragni/Detlas stonebrick.

 

I like to imagine that the entrance to Dern is not all that grand, but once you get through the entrance your presented by a huge, magnificent vista of the horrible dark/evil world. Like, a small gate, small cave, something like you got going there, and then you descend further. And then you actually reach Dern.
I like the gate. Nice and simple.
