I'll have him drink the whiskey, then, when his senses are dulled, ask him what the king intends to tell us, and if the king did summon us. (Is that what you wanted?)

 

You settle down for the night, with the Nivla on your left and the ocean on your right.
Dinner is a hearty lamb stew and potatoes. You eat, and the messenger takes a long draft of whiskey.
"So," you ask. "D'ya know what the King will say to us?"
"Ehrm..." he says. "I wouldn' know. He said somethin' about ye savin' th' town... and he gonna give you some stuff.. like... ah, forget it. I think... that 'ee said that 'ee were goin' to congratulate you or somethin' like that."
"I see," you nod. "Did the King summon us?"
"Yeah... I were there in his castle... 'ee told me specifically. An' 'ee told me ter not forget... well I didn't..." He looks up and shakes his fist at the sky. "I didn't! O King! I have not failed you!" He bursts into laughing.

I'm really bad at persuasion... And have very little knowledge of the human persona...

(I have been told that my disorder makes me more similar to animals, especially cats, than humans personality-wise, meaning I can't relate to most people, thus I have difficulties with persuasion... They also commonly prefer animals, so I'm not insulted.)

 

I didn't understand a single word he said...

"He'd 'ave given ye nothin' and ye'd have to swear fealty to 'im.."

So the messenger certainly admires you for saving Nemract, but if you went to.. let's say the Nivla (from Ragni), he wouldn't follow.

 

I say, "Is the king of Troms actually that bad? Well then. Shall we rest or be on our way? We aren't too far from Ragni now, correct?"

 

"Er... we should rest." He gestured around himself. " 'S night. We be about a day from Ragni now, I s'pose."
