Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Being upgraded." Iruk says.

 

"Ah. So, uh, where are you from?" The air guardian asks, a gentle smile on her lips.

 

"The Hive, which may as well just be called hell."

 

The air guardian pauses for a bit.

"Um...what's it like there?" The air guardian asks, a bit fearful.

 

"Everyone's mind controlled. Break a law, be put to death. Resist mind control, be put to death. Question the tyrant, be put to death."

 

The air guardian turns a little pale.

"W-Wow...are you going back there?" The air guardian asks, clearly frightened by the thoughts of the place.

 

"Hell no!" Iruk half-shouts. "Only reason I'm going back there is to kill the damn Hive Master!"

 

The air guardian seems quite intimidated by Iruk's raised voice, taking an involuntary step back and cowering slightly.

"O-Oh, w-well best of l-luck. You've come to the r-right place to be upgraded." The air guardian says timidly.

 

"I'm sorry to scare you. The bastard's butchered my kind and killed my family... the only part of him that'll get any mercy out of me is his daughter." Iruk grumbles.

 

"You hav- had a family?" The air guardian asks, calming down.

 

"I wasn't always a bot, contrary to popular belief." Iruk mutters.

 

"Wow...what's it like? B-Being robot, I mean. Do you still feel? Or are you just controlling a robotic body?" The air guardian asks, curious.

 

"No, I'm nothing more than a bot now. It's... rather plain. You overanalyze and scan everything to keep yourself entertained."

 

The air guardian pauses for a bit.

"I'm s-sorry your life is like that." The air guardian says sympathetically.

 

"Ain't much of a life anymore." He sighs, walking off.

 

The air guardian looks as if she's about to say something, or call out to Iruk, but decides against it. She goes back to what she's supposed to be doing, glancing back at Iruk before heading into a back room.

 

Ruby keeps a silent watch over the guardian, Iruk heading out back towards Zoe.

 

"Let me help." Cecil tries to help Xephyr any way she can.

 

The air guardian seems to be in a control room of sorts. She takes a panel off of one of the boxes in the room and checks the fuses to make sure they're working, the electricity seeming to not affect her at all. A couple of other air guardians are in the room with her, one relaxing in a soft looking chair while the other seems to be working.

"So how was the robot?" The air guardian in the chair asks, a can hissing as he opens it by the ringpull.

"Oh, um, he was alright I guess. I just kept him powered, as I was asked." The female air guardian says nervously.

"We heard you chatting with him, you know." The other working air guardian says casually, checking the fuses in some of the boxes.

"O-Oh, you did? H-How much-"

"Sounds like someone's in looooove!" The relaxing air guardian interrupts in a teasing tone, sipping his can.

"S-Shut up Luke! No I'm not!" The female air guardian snaps.

"Yeah Luke, why would Holly be in love with a robot anyway?" The working air guardian says, giving the relaxing air guardian, Luke, a slight glare.

"Pfft, I dunno. But she sounded like she was gonna smooch that robot at any moment." Luke says snarkily.

"I-I just felt sorry for him! He was once alive and now he's just a robot!" Holly says defensively.

"I bet you just wished he was alive so you could get it on with him!" Luke says with malice, causing Holly to gasp and turn red.

"Shut up, Luke." The working air guardian says flatly.

"Ooh, let's make babies Iruuk! I love you so much Iruuuk!" Luke says, impersonating Holly's voice as he takes another swig from his canned drink.

"S-Shut up!" Holly shouts, tears starting to run down her face.

"Leave her alone, Luke, before I tell the higher ups you've been slacking on the job and have been harassing Holly." The working air guardian says, glaring at Luke.

"Pfft, yeah right Sam. You know you slack off as much as I do. I could just as easily get you in as much trouble!" Luke says confidently.

"Yeah, when I've done my fucking job!" Sam shouts.

Holly just cries over in the corner of the room while Sam and Luke argue.


"Hey! How are your new wings feeling?" Zoe asks happily, noticing Iruk.

 

"Finding out now."

Iruk darts to the control room, bladed wing held around Luke.
"As a robot, I am no longer capable of love." Iruk growls. "Ruby, thanks for notifying me." He mutters.

Xephyr's almost passed out.
"Ihra... go get Katie..." Xephyr utters.
