Why Is Dexterity Perfered Over Strength?

Im not much of a fan of "chances" or "luck" so im not sure why, is it only because of the requirements for gear or something?

Fast attack speed is more preffered as it can seem to do more damage
Though dex does give a chance of critical hits ...
And is more spell orientated than earth

The way I understand it, it works like this. If you have 150 Strength, all of your damage is boosted by 80% all of the time. If you have 150 Dexterity, you have an 80% chance to do 100% more damage on any given instance. Another thing is that, in general Dexterity/Thunder gear is more Spell-friendly than Strength/Earth gear, and Spell builds are considerably more popular than melee builds.

 

What do you mean by more spell damage friendly?

 

Almost all earth items are geared toward melee and just raw damage. Lots of thunder items are geared toward spell damage.

 

So if I have 150 strength its better than having 150 dexterity because strength gives an 80% boost to ALL damage instead of just an 80% chance to do 50% extra damage?(because dexterity is x1.5 I believe) o-o

 

ya but in return for dex you get spell compatible armour i think
