The Truth About Loot Bonus...

K, so, not really the "truth", as I can't prove it with 100% certainty, but its more of a topic of dicsussion than anything. So this is what I have personally noticed: With my 246% loot bonus gear, I got 1 legendary per loot run in rodoroc. With my -18% loot bonus set tho, I got 2 legendaries in HALF of my loot run in rodoroc. And I hear all the time about people getting mythics with negative loot bonus, and I started to wonder.... What does loot bonus REALLY do? It seems to me that the more loot bonus I have, the higher the QUANTITY of items there are in a chest, and the less loot bonus, the higher the QUALITY of items. This is purely theoretical, however, as I do not have any definitive proof, and neither does anyone else, unless its word from an admin directly, otherwise anything said here is obviously UNPROVEN. But what do you guys think about all this? Vote in the poll above, and discuss in the comments below, I'm curious to see what you guys have to say!

 

I think loot bonus increases just quantity, the other results are just luck
It's not a well designed experiment if you're only getting 1-2 legends, and doing 1 trial.

Do 20 trials each for 2 hours per trial then you can make assumptions

 

I don't bother with high amounts of bonus stats, speaking from personal experience. It either makes an effective impact on your Gameplay, or its passive.
Unless we're talking stuff like walk speed and spell damage, you can't go wrong with those.

 

I've always thought it has directly affected mob drops, but never the loot chests. I'll do loot runs with my normal armor and get equal or better results than runs with a loot set.

I think looting with a high loot bonus set is good for mob grinding (such as grinding at Freezing Heights), but other than that it has no visual effect on the loot chest contents.

 

I did over 50 loot runs with my loot gear, but with the negative stuff, I just got it today, I am still researching into it, I just want to see opinions XD

Actually, the thread with his post has been deleted, but here is a screenshot I found in some other threads.

And considering Loot Bonus increases the chance for all tiers of items to drop from mobs, I'd say it's the same scenario for Loot Chests. Quantity, not Quality (unless you're lucky).

I would actually love it if gms realsed stats on how loot bonus effects chests in terms of percentages of item tiers or quantity.

loot bonus effects everything but it only increases quantity not quality so you will get more of everything

The Quality of loot in loot chests has been explained as a function of Tier and how long the chest has gone unopened.

When you find a REALLY good loot chest, it's not what you're wearing, it's how lucky you are to find a chest nobody else has gotten around recently.

This is what my understanding of loot chests is. I've always been told that lb does absolutely nothing to change chest item quantity or quality.

I'll probably do an experiment on quantity later just to be sure

Loot bonus does not effect chest at all, it even says so on the wiki.
This was a rumor that it did and for some reason everyone beloved it even tho it isn't true in slightest.
